Getting deeper with experience

Created by: AgentWebster
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2021
Published: Jul. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know Don said we are moving on from Halak but we have 2 million in this team build to spend to split time with JS until TR comes back.

Parise would fit nice on our third line with experience that Jake did not have and the same thing with Yandle we get experience.

I would use Vladar as our backup but I think he would not pass waivers not 100%

Zona trying to cut payroll not add to it. If Garland gets dealt it’s for picks/players on ELC.

I don’t think that’s true. They are trying to acquire young assets along with better draft picks. This trade provides both.

The Islanders wanted to get some cap relief, so who better to turn to than the accommodating Coyotes? The Arizona club will have an internal cap limit of about $65 million next season. And getting to the cap basement may be an issue. Not with this deal. It’s unknown if Ladd will actually play any games or not. His stay in New York was more than tenuous. The Coyotes certainly in some sort of rebuild, re-tool… whatever are anxious to replenish their draft picks to build for the future.

They have already said the reason they are looking to move Garland is they don’t want to pay him. They also said they wanted a 1st/prospect or 2. He would likely get between 3.5-5 in arb. This deal they take on 12m in salary, at least, and downgrade the roster.

They added a pair of 2nd and conditional 3rd to take Ladd while giving up nothing, not having a 1st this year it was actually a good move. Wether they bury him, get Seattle to take him, who knows. But it made sense. The above does not.

To me it does and here’s why and you even said it Garland will get 5 million give or take and with getting NR and JD both guys would play middle top 9 some argument could be made with JD playing top 6 with the right talent are scheduled to make about 6. So your getting two roster players for one. For almost the same price. How much do you think Kase will get per and if Zona didn’t want the contract they would control his rights to get draft pick/picks for him and the same could be said about Ritchie. If we had to change out the 2nd for a first then so be it.

Garland > Debrusk and likely cheaper than Debrusk 4.8 real salary.
Kase is useless, nobody is giving him a 2.5 QO so he has no trade value.
Ritchie is worth a late 2nd early 3rd if they flip him.
Moore is a detriment.
Late 2nd in 2 years is not enough to make up the difference.

Why would they consider it when other teams will give them the the 1st and a prospect and not force another 8m of unwanted crap on them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Even if you took out Moore it still does not really work for them. Better shot though.

If Kase IYO has no trade value then give him a cheap deal and play him to build his value. If the building block is our first along with JD. As far as unwanted crap that just Moore the rest do have value. If we have to add more picks and not include Ritchie and Kase and we ship them for picks to recoup some picks then so be it.

That would make more sense for Zona, remove Moore, Ritchie, Kase, 2nd, add a 1st. Ritchie 50/50 to be in Seattle anyway. But i don’t see Boston trading a 1st and Debrusk for Garland, and i see them getting an offer more to their liking.

I think a better deal would be 1st/Debrusk/Urho/Studnicka for Garland/Dvorak. Zona gets some building blocks and salary relief. Boston upgrades their roster with long term assets as opposed to guys in their 30s.

Personally i’d rather use Debrusk to land a LD. Plenty of quality wings in free agency. D is slim pickings.

Keith Yandle is atrocious Sweeney needs to stay as far away from him as possible, unless he's willing to sign for league min and sit in the pressbox which i doubt he wants to do

Sorry you don't play in over 1,000 NHL games and say the player is atrocious in the same sentence.

Im saying our 1st and Debrusk is the base to build off. Im ok with that package that your talking about but the one issue I have with it is you don't have the playoff experence that you would be getting with my team build.

We still would need to find a trade partner for Moore, Ritchie, and Kase.

Kase has little trade value. Nobody is giving him a QO of 2.5m for fear of him accepting. So his RFA rights are inconsequential. Goodrow’s UFA rights went for a 7th. Great move by TB, they knew we were all on him, if NYR work out a deal keeps him from us, a rival, and out of division. Give them props.

Ritchie may not be here after Weds. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have to pay to move Moore or take back bigger unwanted contracted. Might as well buy him out if he agrees or bury him unless they can package him to Seattle but sounds like they are playing hard ball when it comes to taking unwanted contracts.

See where things stand after X draft. If Seattle has extra D, and they should, maybe a deal there with Debrusk.

Nucks needs to shed cap for Elias and Quinn. Maybe something involving a Boesser/Schmidt tandem for Debrusk/pick/prospect.

Lot of options. They will be in on Garland, big price though for small middle 6 wing.

Lot of rumors flying around but I don't want the Bruins to buy anyone out I would rather send a 2nd round pick and him with JD then buy anyone out. Every little bit helps when counting money for the CAP for a contender. We have no more dead money on the books thank god and I wanna keep it that way.

I did hear a rumor that NJ trying to put a package together for Quinn and drafting Luke.

I’d rather the 2nd. Moore buyout is 3 of 4 years at 833k cap hit, year 2 it’s 1.33. So you are saving $ over burying him year 1 and 2. Year 3 and 4 you are out 833k. Cap likely going up by then too. But it is nice to have the other dead space back, here ya there.

If they could do a 3rd and some pieces to get Seattle to take him…all in.

Sometimes when players get older they get worse. Should the bruins sign ray bourque to be on their top pair tomorrow? No, because he isn’t what he used to be. Neither is yandle.

Also, just an FYI, it wasn’t Sweeney casually saying halak wouldn’t be back. It was halak saying, “I am not returning to Boston.”

Why would you need a trade partner for ritchie and kase? The guys don’t have contracts.

You’re going to have to wrap your head around the fact that moving Moore will be difficult.

Then why do you want to move them?

I don’t think you understand how qualifying offers work. Maybe you do and there’s something else I’m missing.

Neither ritchie or kase are worth their qualifying offers. They need to be given those offers to be RFA. Therefore, they aren’t assets anymore. Retaining their rights requires creating a negative value asset. Get it? Or should i have thrown an LOL in there somewhere?

As I already said If we have to add more picks and not include Ritchie and Kase THEN we ship them for picks to recoup some picks that we lost to Zona.

Well, you’re not getting anything for them. They don’t have value. There are two options.
Option 1: qualify them. Pay them more than they are worth, creating a situation where they have NEGATIVE value.
Option 2: don’t qualify them because they have no value. Let them go. Don’t create a situation where they have negative value.

Get it?
