Description
Arizona's pick is Michael Bunting.

Florida's pick is Chris Driedger.

Yes, I'm aware that Price's contract is a rough one to take. However, I find it hard to believe Seattle won't jump at the chance to take a top-5 goaltender coming off a run to the finals without a couple significant sweeteners. That, and Price comes from British Columbia, so the geographical ties make sense, as well.

My rationale for the added picks was to use them as security in case one or both are either dealt at the deadline or go somewhere else in free agency. I expect them to be the picks anyway, but I think Seattle would feel more comfortable going for them if they knew they could get more than just one year of production out of the deal.

But I don't see why the other teams would pay you to take them. They both have positive value (it's actually debatable for Domi but imo his upside is definitely worth the risk for 1 year). Of course SEA would prefer to get more picks but it doesn't make sense why CGY or CBJ would want to get rid of them

It would be interesting, but Tarasenko would require at least a couple of sweeteners that I don't know if St. Louis wants to give up. That, and adding Tarasenko just wouldn't be feasible if Seattle gets Price, Johansen, and Voracek.

I feel like Price waiving will have pieces going the other way. No wY MB exposes him to protect Allen unless there is a deal in place for Seattle to either pick someone other than Price (which seems unlikely because they could just make the same deal with Allen) OR Price wanted the chance to play closer to home and MB only agreed IF a deal with Francis could be made to send a package back to Montreal.

The pick for Giordano has some precedent behind it. Pittsburgh gave Vegas a future second-round pick to select MAF, even though it was likely he was going to be their pick anyway. It's a goodwill gesture towards a franchise legend and, once again, gives Seattle a safety net if Giordano is only going to be there for a season.

Domi, on the other hand, might need to have a pick attached. If he gets picked up, Seattle's going to be his third team in as many years, so that might lead to a few loyalty questions. Plus, Columbus has a few other potential options that have upside and/or fill roles for the Kraken like Stenlund, Kukan, and even Carlsson. The pick doubles as added security and ensuring Seattle doesn't change course and takes Domi's final year off their books.

It's a possibility. If Price does stay in Montral, my guess is Seattle would be going with Drouin and a combination of prospects and picks. As far as a package going the other way if Seattle picks Price, I would say Tierney, Kahkonen and a couple of the picks gathered up would be a starting point. They will have to replace Price, and might have to find a replacement for Danault.

I personally don't feel any particular way about Bergevin. I'm more looking at Habs fans reacting to a franchise legend and the man who basically took the Canadiens to the Finals single-handedly walk away like this, and NHL fans who feel Vegas and Seattle are getting preferential treatment with the expansion draft rules.

As far as your reasoning for Price goes, I think you're spot-on. Duncan Keith did ask for a trade closer to home because COVID restrictions severely limited time with his family during the season, so it would make sense for Price to have a similar reason. One of the earlier comments here suggested a package going to Montreal in return of Seattle picking Price, so it would be a start.

I don't see why a package needs to go back, it is a huge contract, with 11 of the 13 million due before season begins. They may not even take him, Drieger is looking real good. Plus Carey has 2 good years left before his game tails off a little. we will all see by Wednesday.
