If anything Caps would be getting the 3rd round pick. Schmidt is $2M more.

Why are the capitals giving up the pick and also taking on more cap? Picks going the wrong way.

Sounds like there is a pretty good possibility they will. Maybe some salary retention though. Anyways, I'd be shocked if he's still on the Canucks in 2 weeks.

You see all the young goalies left unprotected there not wasting a pick on Holtby they’ll sign Driedger and move two of the young goalies for real assets, Holtby gets them nothing and he’s had back to back sub 900 seasons even with salary retained it makes zero sense for Seattle to take him, they’ll take Lind a asset that has value

Larsson for 5.5, if that’s what it takes to get him then it’s too much.

We shall see in 2 days. There's lots of credible buzz that's he's going to the Kraken or being traded. Lind has little value since he'll require waivers this year and hasn't established himself. Holtby still retains some cache due to name recognition and up to 8 teams are interested in him.

You're probably right. RHD is just such a huge hole throughout the organization that I can see them overpaying for him. 5.5 is about one million too much but I wouldn't be shocked.
