Rumor on the Street

Description
Rumor of the day is that Seattle is going to pick Tarasenko and flip him to Philly.
Odds are Landeskog is gonna get 9 million in the open market, and the blues shouldn't cave in on that much money for that much term. Much rather them sign a player who is nearly as good for roughly 4 million less in Tatar (He's criminally underrated). Use the extra money saved by dumping Scandella and not signing Gabe to grab a perfect linemate for either Parayko or Faulk in Alec Martinez. Resign Bozak and Schwartz, and you got yourself some more bang for your buck.

Pure cap dump for the blues similar to the Ladd to Arizona deal. Doesn't have to be Ottawa, but some rebuilding team with cap space that would be willing to weaponize their cap space for future assets

Tatar isn't criminally underrated. The guy routinely gets benched in the playoffs, and then his team usually runs ot the finals without him.

I don't get trading assets to get rid of Scandella just to over pay Sanford, run a 25 person team roster, pick up Tatar and Martinez for more than you should pay him and overpay Schwartz again. This team would not produce anymore offense than last season, I'd argue it would be worse.

If true that's what Seattle will do, shame on Armstrong. Most overrated GM in the league

In the last 3 years, Tatar leads the league in 5v5 expected goal %, is 9th in the league in 5v5 assists, and 19th in 5v5 points. He is going to be the steal of the offseason if a team gets him for a sub 5 AAV

The rumor also stated that the Kraken were going to be willing to retain a decent portion of that contract. While it would be rough to not gain assets in return, unloading that contract while being able to keep Dunn very well could work in the blues favor. As long as Army uses the cap space wisely, they can work with the extra 7.5 million compared to half of that if they wanted a good return

Heh. Yeah, he's really good in the regular season and has played with some really strong defensive forwards as linemates. Now ask yourself how many teams have benched him in the playoffs...

He could have gotten something of value other than cap space. If he wanted to open up cap space he shouldn't have signed Krug or Faulk and would have just kept Petro. Army gets in his own way because he's stubborn.

I can agree with Krug, but Faulk is making his contract look fine. The Scandella signing was BAD though

Faulk is overpaid. He played well last year, no doubt, but is vastly overpaid. Especially in the context that for 8 mil we could have had Petro who can do the jobs of both Krug and Faulk who are getting paid 13 mil to do together. I agree the Scandella contract was bad too though.
