Additional Details:
So this move indicates either:
1. Jarmo & coaches think Domi would be difficult to re-sign in 2022
2. There is an internal team cap limit that warrants unloading even more salary, or
3. Robinson will be better in a year or two than Domi will be

Korpisalo sucks so moving is a bonus.

Jones will get a good return.

They have a tonne of capspace and if they use it well I think they make something.

Make a move for Kuznetsov. Then roslovic and Jenner are a decent 2/3 C.

I don't think they will try and tank on purpose.
I think they are really trying to move Jones as early as possible now after losing so many players for nothing, and get a couple decent assets back for him.
Jones' value will probably be a little higher mid-season or at the TDL.
I think they will probably trade Korpi and keep Elvis, but who knows now with the whole Kivlenieks thing that happened (Elvis is a little bit better and plays with some intensity, just like Hextall did back in the 80s/90s).
My guess is they are freeing up as much payroll to go @pe**** on UFA signing day (unfortunately this usually does not work out for them at all).
I could see them trying to make a play for an older experienced center (who still has a lot of game left) on a higher contract for shorter term ($7M x 2?), like Krejci, Stastny, etc.
They may even go after a mid-tier C like (bringing back) Wennberg or Haula or Bozak.
On D, I'm sure they will make a hard run at Hamilton, Barrie, Larson, Savard, etc. on the right side to replace Jones.
I also would like to see them bring back Ryan Murray and/or Nutivaara.
Honestly, i think Jarmo has mis-managed this team for the last 3 or so years, and glad they unloaded Torts).
If Jackets do not come through this transition quickly and successfully, I really think Jarmo needs to go too.

Elvis isn't a little better than korpisalo. He's way better. Korpisalo is one of the worst goalies of the last decade who people overrated for an incredible 10-15 game run in the playoffs two years ago

IMO, Domi stay a CBJ. His cap hit, and his play is way to high to be attractive for Seattle.

I thought about that, but at the end of the day, they only really have Stenlund, Kukan, and Domi to choose from (other than a bunch of expiring mid-to-low-level UFA's).
WIth his RFA status, only 1 year left on his term, and a bit of grit/intensity (for a player of his size) to his game when he is on, I think the Kraken will take him.

Well, they can't get a starter from every team. Don't they (Kraken) need players for the Palm Springs AHL team too? So they could take Stenlund or Kukan for that.

Domi is also out until mid December at the earliest, and that means 40-60% of the season he will be healthy for, plus he’s a pending UFA at the end of the season and Likely not coming back to Columbus. Seems to me the smart thing to do was to keep the guy who would be there long term in Robinson, even if he wasn’t the better player, I also think we see a Jenner extension between drafts and Boone gets named captain next season.
