Post Expansion

Created by: KDow88
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 19, 2021
Published: Jul. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Apparently there is a little market for Koskinen out there, I believe the Oilers would need to retain, so why not retain the buyout $$ it would cost them..
Apparently it's not likely Larsson comes back according to Seravelli, and more likley Barrie comes back..
See Khaira maybe getting picked for expansion rather than Benson..
1- way deal for Marody, give him a legit NHL look this year with no Nygard or Haas to block him..
Yamamoto to a Bear type bridge deal..
1A/1B for goalies, obviously give Ullmark the reigns and Smith play more than a usual backup..
Relatively young forward with some term left, can play both wings, and can score-despite mediocre numbers last season on a bad team. And Broberg could useful for the Sharks and play with another swede in Karlsson, and the picks would help give Edm trade currency going into next years trade deadline w/ earlier picks, should McLeod not evolve into the 3rd L C they picture, and/or you need a mid to bottom pairing D man should Russell or Keith not mesh well with either Bouchard OR Bear..
Only way I'd deal Bear is if Larsson comes back, Barrie re-signs AND the Oilers still need a top 6 winger..
The big risk would be dealing Neal with the 1st rounder this year for Cap Space and a couple mid rounders to relieve your cap space and not have to do a buyout, and if you're going to take a risk on a 1st round pick in a deal to get rid of Cap Space it would be this year as there hasn't been much to scout all season, so if anything you could maybe find a few diamonds in the rough for later in the draft as opposed to earlier..

Lebanc was supposed to be 1st line with Connor and Pupu, and 1st unit PP taking over Neal/Chiasson's spot...

Think they would push harder for the 3rd rather than the 4th, they won't leave themselves with 0 picks in the first 3 rounds, the selling point would be the fact it's Vegas' 3rd meaning it would be close to a 4th anyways...

Like Broberg as a prospect, but doesn't really fill a need for SJ organizationally nor in the immediate future. If/when Labanc gets dealt, it is going to be for a 3C most likely.
