Paying higher AAV to shorten the term. Honestly I’m not sure his value.

There are 3 really good players on this d-core in hughes, Schmidt, and larsson. More cap space will come available next year to add an additional player. I think you’re under rating some of these players.

As for holtby, Rick Dhaliwal has reported that multiple teams are interest in holtby at retained $$. Canucks retain 1.3 mm, the Seattle could flip him with 1 mm retained to a team looking for a veteran back up. They still get Lind as the expansion pick
