Isles 2021-22 - Last AGM Before Expansion

Description
SEA-NYI Trade

Seattle agrees to claim Leo Komarov in exchange for Otto Koivula and a 2022 3rd round pick (NYI). Komarov is a good piece for an expansion team. He's an excellent PKer, a locker room leader, and only has one year left on his contract. Koivula and him have built a rapport over the last couple training camps, and a young C prospect is always good for a team to have. Koivula could theoretically win the 4C spot depending on who else is drafted.

---

EDM-NYI Trade

I've posted this trade a few times. I don't love losing Varlamov, but this type of deal is necessary to add more offensive pieces. Isles also get a nice backup, as well as a tweener C prospect and a draft pick.

---

NSH-NYI Trade

Nashville will likely lose either Jarnkrok or Sissons. Getting Eberle would be a nice piece for a center like Johansen or Duchene. They would also get Kieffer Bellows here, who was Cody Glass' linemate with the Portland Winterhawks.

---

I left Palmieri out here. Unless he takes $3M or less, I can't see him fitting in cap-wise. Panik is a fine player, he could be revitalized with Pageau and, in this scenario, Beauviller.

Unique way going about this, really good job. I would enjoy a signing of Parise as veteran depth if possible over playing Panik.

I don’t think Zajac re signs, so if you buried Panik, Jonhston, and Zajac(or didn’t sign him), you’d have plenty to sign Palmieri to the 3RW. Would make the team much better. Other than that, good all around.

As an Oiler fan, we take that Varlamov deal all day every day sign on the dotted line, do not think about it again!

Didn't know that, just was giving what I thought was fair.

We wouldn't even think twice about making this deal. No brainer to bolster the goaltending for a couple years.

If he costs that much I'd rather just get Parise for $1M and keep Varlamov. I know there's a large drop off but I don't think Landeskog is worth more than $8M. Maybe $8.5M.

I don’t disagree, but are the Isles really going to have
6 forwards making $5M or more knowing raises are coming for Pullock, Dobson, Walstrom, and Sorokin? Teams are being forced to face the reality the cap isn’t going up for a number of years and you need to identify your core.

Their cap situation actually isn't that bad. Yes, signing Landeskog for that long and for that much could remove flexibility, but I think everything is still manageable.

Yeah well people forget too that the Avs have even more space, and aren’t willing to go that high.

Yeah I'm surprised with the way things have developed with Colorado. I think if he leaves they may take a step back next season. The next few days should be really interesting.

I don’t think they take a step back because Makar, Byram and Newhook are going to be significantly better and they still roll MacKinnon and Mikko on the top line. I just heard Landy said no to 7x7 (Anders Lee contract). 🤷‍♂️

He must either not want to go back to Colorado or he believes he'll get significantly more. He's better than Lee, but only about $1M more.

He wants to come back he evidently just wants a massive pay day, and as the Avs are currently constructed you can’t give your 4 or 5th best player that big of money, and within 2 or 3 years he could be the 6th or 7th best player on the team depending on how good Byram (absolute stud) and Newhook become. Plus no knock on anywhere else but there isn’t a better place to live and raise a family than COL.
