Why would Dallas take Halak. If they wanted him so bad they would've claimed him when New York waived him.

It's not that Halak is bad, it just that the Isles wanted to clear cap. But the Stars with their two high priced goalies are the last team that need Halak. Isles have other players much more appealing than Kumelin for the Vegans.

Going for a prayer to take that salary and I figure a pick would help it, also Halak could really go anywhere in the WEST I don't care.

Blough17: I see have similar "handles." It's just so difficult to shed 4.5m in salary, cause who has cap space? His contract is workable this year but next year at 4.5m that's a lot probably a back up. What the Isles need is a injury to a contenders starting goalie between now and TDL, which might be the only trade appeal he has.
Calgary might have ZERO NHL goalies on the books July 1st. If they get their starter, maybe a guy like Halak makes a good short term backup next year. We're witnessing the "flat cap era." If the expectation that the cap was going to be 80m next year, it wouldn't be such a concern. But any bad contract on the books can really hurt future signings.
