I'm just going to put this out there. Landeskog doesn't put the Pens into the Tampa/Colorado conversation for elite teams. That contract doesn't help the rebuild in a few years. Also, why would Landeskog sign with Pittsburgh? There are teams who will be cup contenders for the entirety of his deal and Pittsburgh isn't one of them.

    What has Colorado’s core won?

What does that matter what they have won? It's about what they are more likely to do in the future. Colorado is far more likely to be a legit cup contender over that 7 year contract. Their core is literally in their prime during the entirety of that deal. The Pens core is already 33, 34, 35. It makes no sense for him to sign with us.

Pittsburgh’s core has won without him

Colorado hasn’t even won with him

Just weird to judge his willingness to sign based on a perceived ‘contender’ gap that I don’t see as that substantial, both teams will be in the playoffs next year

Pens core with Landeskog is every bit the contender the Avs core is without him, at least in the short term

By definition this also assumes he leaves, how many similar contenders even have the space
