Holy overpay for Ristolainen! You likely get him 1 for 1 for Vanacek. Certainly two seconds or less.

I agree, BUT GM's according to reports anyway seem to be really valuing him for some reason. Never know! guys a 40 point player so theyre probably just looking at that

Yeah, that will come down. Risto is a defensive... I'm trying to be nice here because it's a family friendly website... he's not worth that, no one *should* pay a first straight up. Ken Holland might, but no one else should.

lots of people taking Vanecek in the expansion draft.
I don't think you'll get so lucky in them taking Schultz.

There’s a lot of good goalies out there, I think caps would pay them to take Schultz if anything

Just hold on to Kuzy at this point. He’ll likely bounce back next season, his trade value is too low right now

I couldn't disagree more. Risto is a 40 point, right shot, 1st pairing defenseman picked in the top 10 of the draft. An above average goalie prospect who hasnt accomplished anything in the league is not of equal value. Washington needs to add to that imo

There's a few starting caliber goalies available. Vanecek isn't proven to even be a good backup yet, much less a starter. He's still appealing due to his low cap hit relative to his 2020-2021 performance.

It would honestly be the worst case scenario for the Caps to have Vanecek selected. Not only does it NOT clear up cap space for the Caps, but it ironically will end up costing us cap space trying to find his replacement of equal quality. Finding a goalie that performed at his level for $700K is going to be tough.
