Wow this is creative. Isles end up losing pretty bad here though. I would easily decline this if I was Lou.

flames aren’t trading tkachuk AND gaudreau. Maybe one of them if their name is not tkachuk. If we acquire eberle it’s far more likely to be for a pick or two than to involve a player better than eberle, and mid to late 1sts don’t amount to much for either star

So you would not want: Gaudreau, Scandella, Tarasenko, 2022 3rd (STL) for Mayfield, Beauvillier, Eberle,2022 1st (NYI), 2023 2nd (NYI)

Tarasenko is damaged goods, gaudreau only has 1 year left and would be a terrible fit in trotz system. This also underrates the hell out of Beauvillier and Eberle

Tarasenko is damaged goods

I'm fairly confident this season will show that is not at all true.

Why? Like I was trying to get the reasoning,

I look at is as, Mayfield is UFA next year and you already have a big price coming for Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock, Scandella gives you 3 years cost certainty and a LD who is big also and can move.

Tarasenko and Gaudreau are sizable upgrades from Eberle and Beauvillier. Really the only reason I had Eberle in the deal is money, you could switch him with Bailey.

I doubt it - his play driving was pretty bad last season and he only had 2 even strength goals in 24 games

I was thinking the opposite, it shows that Beauvillier and his age/status of being younger shows the value of him, that at team would take him for Tarasenko and a pick

Beauvillier was on pace for 26 goals this season while Tarasenko had 4 goals in 24 games. He was also the isles best forward in the playoffs the past two season - why would the isles trade him?

Mayfield has 2 cheap years left and we have space opening up to possibly resign him.

It does not make sense for the Isles to break up the team to get an expense lottery ticket in Tarasenko and go all in on Johnny G. Plus they are completely giving up any draft picks of value for the next 2 years. I would be happy if the Isles got one of VT or JG but not at the expense of gutting the roster.

This team went to back to back semi’s for a reason. You don’t gut your squad for marginal upgrades. And yes marginal because VT is a crap shoot to be better than Eberle. I don’t like Scandella. And giving up Beau, Mayfield, 1st and 2nd for Johnny G I don’t think is an upgrade. The islanders biggest strength is there consistency and fitting Trotz system. Gutting the roster would be detrimental

Yeah, thrown straight in with no preseason and a condensed schedule with little practice time. His shoulder is 100% now and he'll have a preseason. I would fear he'll go off somehwere and score 30 if I hadn;t already resigned myself to it.
