Description
I'm just a fan of how these guys play the game. It's bottom 6 depth mainly. I know it's not likely but this would clearly be a heavy team to play against.

These are all massive over payments by Toronto for depth players. Leipsic and Dermott are high end prospects, Sosh and Leivo are proving to be valuable NHL players.. Leivo doesn't get much of a chance to play but has shown he can score in the NHL - 5 goals in 12 games with the leafs last year. Adding 2 second round picks and a 3rd round pick to all of this for three players to play on the fourth line/3rd D pair doesn't make any sense to me. Foligno also has well below average possession and IMO is not worth leipsic, who has high end offensive upside, let alone adding Soshnikov and a 2nd to that.

Leipsick is an AHL scorer and will likely never be a regular NHL player. All draft pick out of the first round have an under 20% chance of ever making the NHL. Levio hasn't been able to make the Leafs line up on the regular 5 goals in 12 games doesn't prove anything. He'll that's like say Devonte smith pelly has proven he can score at the NHL level because he scored 6 playoffs galls a few years ago. Soshnikov has value as a bottom 6 but Foligno abilities that he brings to a team blow Soshnikovs out of the water. Dermott is a good prospect but may never make the NHL Oleksiak is a ready now player.

Leipsic will definitely be an NHLer, not only does he score, but he's also an agitator at the NHL level. Also Oleksiak is a bust, he can barely crack one of the worst defense cores in the league, while Dermott is projected to be a top 3/4 defenseman. A better question is if Oleksiak will ever be an NHL regular? Or will he just be Penny's older brother

Yea, I think these are overpayments too. Oleksiak is 24 years old and can barely crack the Stars lineup. Dermot has much more upside and does look he can be an NHLer. Lowry you have him as a fourth line centre. Do the Leafs have to give up so much? I like Foligno when he's playing well, which isn't all the time. For the Leafs to give up three prospects (maybe iffy prospects), to me seem too much for a bottom line player. And if you trade for Foligno, Lowry and Oleksiak then you feel obligated to protect them from Vegas. Don't know if they are worth that. Soshnikov and Dermot don't need protection.
