If you pulled off the Eichel trade and Copp wasn't willing to re-sign in Winnipeg, I think the Jets seriously consider the deal.

It sounds like Copp and WPG have had serious issues in salary negotiations going back years. They are losing Demelo and are rumored in Risto/Dumba for years. Trade makes a lot of sense I think

Eichel trade looks good, even though Kahkonen is probably Seattle bound. Ristolainen trade looks about right considering he's having tons of suitors. Dumba > Copp LA declines way too much for Sam Reinhart even with a reasonable extension.

Where did you see that eichel trade? Because that’s horribly overpaying and every publication I’ve seen said that minnesota will under no circumstance send away boldy and rossi for eichel. Everything I’ve seen says one or the other.
MNCountryClub and Clement liked this.

Yeah, I think it does. It would all depend on how far apart they are in contract talks with Copp and of course Buffalo getting Dumba.

Reinhart is good and all, but 8th overall, the Kings 2C (who is on an ELC), and a 2nd rounder is a bit much for RFA rights to a player who will hold all the negotiating strength and demand $7.5M to the shortest term possible. The Kings are not in a huge rush to move Quick either, they have the cap space, and keeping Quick for the next two years only will improve Cal long term.

One of Turcotte/Byfield has to be replacing Vilardi, not to mention Sam can play center.

Also, if Byfield doesn’t overtake Vilardi in the org depth chart next eye at, his development is not going as planned

Turcotte and Byfield have not fully graduated to that role, Vilardi was thrust into his role at 2C way too fast, which is a mistake they won't make with Byfield or Turcotte. They made the mistake of letting Vilardi play because of his age, and not factoring the guy spent two seasons on IR because of his back injury. Regardless of all this, Vilardi ended the season pretty strongly with their acquisition last season of Andersson.

In the future, he will play a tough-nosed third-line once Byfield or Turcotte prove they are ready for 18-20 min a night. But you are missing the main point here, if the Kings declined this trade what team is willing to get Reinhart RFA (during a cap freeze) rights by giving up a top 10 pick (where the top 2-10 are murky, to say the least), a teams best prospect graduate (on an ELC), and a 2nd rounder? In terms of asset management, wouldn't the Kings be better off if they: keep Vilardi, the 1st, and overpay a free agent for 2 years ($6.5-7M) until their prospect crop is ready?
