So the Blues trade Tarasenko and their first round pick (which is 5 spots higher than Washington's) for Washington's first and a 3rd? That makes no sense for the Blues to do. They could package their first and Tarasenko to move up in the draft, not lower.

They got WSH 1st, EDM 2nd, and VGK 3rd for Tarasanko and dropping 5 spots.

the way i see it for them it is #23 + #52 for #17 (fair value)

leaving Tarasenko for #94

Because the Blues are trading a top 6 forward AND giving up draft position. That 2nd and 3rd are not worth moving down 5 spots in the first round.
