- This will be close to the final trade for Eichel. (Maybe swap Jones for Robertson or Chytil for Krav)
- Having three picks in the Top 15, two being in the Top 10, gives Buffalo flexibility to make additional trades or have the chance to fully rebuild through the draft
- Reports have come out saying they want NHL players, as well as either draft picks, or prospects of NHL talent (4 assets is the rumor)
- The Sens have been linked to Strome for the past week or so, and he is the odd centerman out for the Rangers, baring an Eichel trade has been carried out. Although the centerman seems to lack a bit on the third line, Strome is a UFA next year. He has had two career years these past two years and the Rangers may not be able to afford to overpay for another center, especially with all the ELCs expiring next year. By adding the late-round pick swap, it is a bit of a sweetener for Ottawa if they are hesitant to trade their first-round pick
- Blackwell has been confirmed to be taken by Seattle in the Expansion Draft
- Hyman has been linked to the Rangers these past few days and although at a slight overpay, this will bring some veteran offensive presence to the third line. Other teams have been linked to Hyman since he is a UFA, so an overpay may be the only option, even if not ideal
- The Goodrow contract is also a bit of an overpay, but this contract has been all but confirmed these past few days
- Igor is the future goalie for this team and is looking for a long-term deal. Although injury-prone in his first two years, he is due for this type of contract
- Bringing back Brendan Smith for anything less than 1M is a perfect way to bring some veteran presence to the bottom defensive line. He could easily be replaced by any AHL defenseman who may have a good start to their season. He is also a strong locker room presence for this team and is liked by the entire team
- The Deangelo buyout is also all but confirmed, this is practically a guarantee
- The taxi squad is quite similar to last year's. This also includes bringing back PDG as an extra forward for this team
- Even with a slight overpay for certain players (Goodrow and Hyman), this leaves the team with roughly 8M to play with if Barron is not ready and another center is needed
- There are still quite a few free-agent centers on the market at the time of this post
