VGK can't or won't sign AM - walks UFA.

The big question is EJ. Is he healthy? If so, he is exactly what the D needs on the R side, a big tough shutdown D. If not... the Avs dominate the reg season and get pushed around again in the playoffs.

Sammy is going to have to get moved in the next two years to preserve any kind of secondary depth at forward with BB and MacK needing raises. He doesn't have to be moved this year but the shine on him is bright right now. The overages killed the extra cap space to try and pull off a trade for a next tier F. Getting Sammy out of Buff would be awesome but cap wise it doesn't work after two years with him signing 6+mill per year. Maybe a target if Landy jumps ship. And I like the way Tuch plays... Love him when he is on your side hate em when he's not. Gritty but not truly "dirty." But ohh so close... Avs could use a little of that, without the head hits. Finally, with EJ semi-healthy, not buying him out, and the absence of any resigning players taking "team friendly" deals, moving Sammy G this year maybe the only real way to shore up the middle six.

A pick may be needed in the JTC trade... 3rd feels a little rich but not by much.
