Description

Trading Varlomov is done in order to create more cap space. Instead of spending $8 mil on their goaltending, they are spending under $4 mil. Sorokin is ready to be elite and there are great goaltending coaches on the island. He’ll be better than ok. Varly is probably worth a first and a second based on the season that he just had, but they need someone to take him for this specific scenario, so I cut his value down.

Also signed Craig Anderson to a deal bc he’s probably hungry for a cup and he’s got one last year to get it.

In order to get the last bit of cap space, they move their two bad contracts to the Devils along with Wilde. They don’t need Wilde since they are stacked on the right side and Greene could fill in on that side if there is an injury.

Varly is good but doesn’t make sense for Canes. They’d be spending over 8m on goaltending which is exactly what you’re trying to avoid with an up and coming goalie. They’re looking for a 1B or veteran backup in the 2-3M range.
