Everyone who thinks the McCann trade was poor asset management and that Seattle would have taken Holl instead are the idiots. The McCann trade was purely third line Center insurance so we didn’t lose Kerfoot or if we did lose Kerfoot we had McCann. Seattle never wanted Holl..
Thats exactly why you expose him.
7-3-1 would leave to SEA :
Forwards : Engvall, Anderson and Spezza ( who we know what he would do if drafted )
Defenders : Holl and Dermott
Goalies : Hutchinson
Some ppl are waveing around here with threat of SEA asking 1st and 3rd to take the exact player but in the names above i dont see anyone not expendable.
In case SEA takes Holl, Dermott jumps in for 500k less, 5 years younger and much more upside as clumsy and insecure-with-puck "TOP 4 D McDavids kryptonite" Holl
In case SEA takes anyone else, you kept your beloved "TOP 4D" Holl
As for McCann, kid is on his way to rise, would make great fundation to build 3rd line as its C with his shooting upside over Kerfoot, who is feeder more than a sniper, Kerfoot filling in for PK and McCann for PP, but hey....who are we to know anything about hockey if its not backuped by stats-sheets.
