Description
I really think Seattle could’ve done better than this, but hey we’ll see what the side deals look like tomorrow after the trade freeze is over, maybe it’ll be better.

Either way, here’s what it should like on opening night. First, re-sign your big RFA’s and dump some unneeded players. Dunn should get a nice contract, one which he’s earned and should be a good top-pairing defenseman for the Kraken. I traded Giordano to the Rangers as he’s been linked to them and Seattle could get a nice return for him. I feel the return is more than generous with Seattle getting a solid B prospect and a 2nd round pick for the 38 year-old. Next I dumped Pitlick to a contender where he can play solid bottom-six minutes, I just didn’t see a fit on this team.

Seth Jones. I personally don’t rate him very highly but Seattle is in desperate need of same name-brand players and Jones fits the bill. Soucy is underrated and is sadly dumped off and although he’s arguably better than Jones by himself, I just see Seattle making this trade for some reason. Seattle also adds Vanecek, a young goalie with lots of promise (although I think he’s overrated) and an uninspiring Cale Fleury and a 2nd rounder. The last few trades I made just help Seattle get better up front by taking on Voracek’s contract and getting a prospect back for Jarnkrok, making space for some UFA’s.

Seattle needs wingers, BADLY. Sign Hoffman and Schwartz for some veteran leadership and scoring to play in your top-six. Also sign an underrated Bernier to a solid contract and have a good 1A and 1B goaltender setup.

I drafted Matty Beniers with the #2 overall pick. He has the potential to be their franchise center, but I would not be opposed to Eklund as well, I just see Seattle taking Beniers.

This leaves Seattle with a LOT of cap space, but you do not want to go around spending it like it’s nothing. They did meh in the expansion draft in my opinion, but these next few weeks for trading and signing are going to make or break this team.

New York accepts, but I don’t expect Giordano to go anywhere.

Not unless Seattle is retaining 50% and Blackwell is coming back.

Giordano has 1 year left. Salary retention isn’t necessary.
