The Leafs don't have Draft picks or prospects to offer in trade and Dubas doesn't enjoy signing 30 + year old UFA's. So does Dubas make trading Rielly as he big summer retool plan ? With Muzzin, Sandin and Dermott becoming the new Top 3 LHD.

Rumor is Dubas is working on finding a top 6 LWer to replace Hyman, that will not be a P. Marleau signing.

And Dubas only enjoys signing old timers if they're cheap.

Lilijegren is just not good enough for a regular 3rd pairing spot. He can fill in for a few games here and there in case of injuries but can't expect more than that.

Sandin has not quite earned that 3rd pair spot yet but he should get every opportunity for it this coming season.

Honestly would have loved to see him compete with Caufield and Holloway for the Baker as with his ability to get points like crazy could have been a nice 3-way race for the ages

Not really, because of the lack of future Draft picks means the future cardboards will be bare, meaning Dubas has placed himself in a box and keeping those prospects .
