it's not a recent 1st rd prospect it's most likely a struggling prospect due to team depth or something. and he's smart to ask that high bc multiple teams are interested

The value of ANA 2021 1st is more than 1/4 pieces. Same would go for Zegras. The 2 assets combined have to be worth 3/4 of the ask easily. High picks aren’t = to mid or late picks. Also guys like Gauthier from NYR would actually qualify as 1/4 or 1/5 pieces that is the ask

I hope you know Ristolainen's value around the league (for the GMs) is different than the one on social media.

Actually according to the report I read this morning it is a 1st round pick + a prospect (didn't speculate on the talent level of the prospect) like I said though Risto I not worth a 1st on his own. Also reports are 2 teams have interest (Winnipeg and Montreal) lead the way. Risto isn't even top of the list for Montreal (I can't say he would be for Winnipeg either) so I would say that there is interest but not enough to warrant asking for a 1st +.

I don't mind setting high goals but let's be realistic about it otherwise rival GM's will start asking themselves why they should even deal with Buffalo if they are going to be unrealistic. He could have set the price at a mid 1st OR an A prospect (which would still be too high but at least he would be able to start negotiations from there). As it stands now he set a price too high and teams are just saying forget it and walking away.

If those are the exact pieces then he is out to lunch for sure.

Lundkvist
22’ 1st(NYR)
21’ 3rd(BUF)

For instance LAF and KAKKO = the package above. I’m not saying his ask isn’t too high, I’m simply saying that ANA package has too much in it and that ANA wouldn’t have to give that much up to get Eichel

I feel like his best option to capitalize on Eichel would be to wait for him to return from surgery anyway. Teams would be more likely to spend those kinds of assets and could even start a bidding war once Eichel was starting to skate after surgery.
