Additional Details:
St. Louis has lost a bit of depth on the back end since their cup with edmunson going to the finals with the habs, gunnarson retiring, pietrangelo going to the knights and dunn going to the kraken. So they shed tarasenko who doesnt want to be there for a defender to build some of that depth back up

LA isn't going to give up anything of value to take on over $10M in unmitigated cap space.

I know right. I know people are going to complain and say it wont happen and it probably wont. But to see a sick russian line like that again or crosby and ovechkin. It would definitely be awesome like you said

the defense would be awful.
POJ isn't ready, and Chara can't skate.
If dumo got hurt, that s it, team is done.

Tarasenko if he plays, that's a huge risk for this team. For Seattle not so much, they got him for free and no one expects them to win right away if he doesn't play. At least they tried.
But that won't cut it here.

Swap Tyler Madden out for Matt Luff or Austin Wagner and drop the 4th round pick.

I mean there's still ruhwedel, riikola, friedman, maniscalco. And Pittsburgh seems to play better with injuries. Sullivan can be good i guess sometimes haha

For two years, yes. Then there's another 2x4 on Pettersson's deal. In total, they lose cap space.

Petterssons already making that. I accounted for that already. 3.5 in cap space for the blues.

Your math is off. 2x7.5=15. 4x4=16. 16>15. This is a net cap add for the Blues. Hey, maybe they like the value enough to do it, but it only can work if Scandella moves.

That's not how it works. You are supposed to look at the yearly cap hit and not the total contract value. Total contract value is something that only the ownership group has to worry about. We are looking at the yearly cap hit to remain equal to or under the salary cap of 81.5 million for the year.

Huh? The Blues have to account for the cap hit for all four years of the contract, so I have no idea what point you think you're trying to make. The salary cap is every year, not just this year or until Tank's contracts expires.

Yearly cap hit of 4 vs 7.5 its really not that hard. You don't take total into account. Irrelevant.

Sucks yeah I know that's most likely going to happen. Would be nice to see him play with crosby though or even malkin and especially on an all russian line like that where there hasnt been one that skilled since detroits all russian line a long time ago

Ehh Tarasenko has 2x7.5 left, bro. And of course you take total into account when you're paying it. Dur.
