Greene's bonuses are automatically accounted for by CapFriendly so you don't have to account for it. Also Boychuk is on LTIR so you have plenty of more cap space to fill out the roster. I think Panik will be 13F.

Also Parise is a 4th line caliber forward, maybe even more of a 13 F. That 2nd line would be a huge defensive liability and they would barely score any goals

I was wondering why I was so cash strapped hahaha. I feel like Boychuk has been automatically in LTIR in the past. Ok then, time for another trade

Parise is one year removed from a 25 goal year, and two years removed from a 28 goal year - each in substantially less than 82 games played. Calling him a 13 F is beyond harsh.

The point of putting him there was to spread the love around and have Lee anchor his own line. It's also been relayed to me that I didn't move Boychuk into the LTIR slot so this team is moot anyway

Romanov is awful defensively while playing in a system that usually boost defensive numbers. He also doesn’t put up points and has mediocre hockey IQ. From most hockey prospect models he’s not even a lock to be an NHLer and if he is he’ll be a #4 or #5 D - and we’re trading our best two way winger in Beauvillier. Are we trying to force Barzal to request a trade next summer by getting rid of 3 of his closest friends on the team in one year?

Father Time is undefeated and if you didn’t know , players pushing 40 YO can fall off a cliff at any moment. That’s already happened to Parise. He cannot drive a line and neither can Bailey. Beauvillier was the one who was the main driver of the 2nd line. Nelson and Baileys numbers without Beauvillier are f*cking brutal . Beauvilliers numbers actually improved without them. I don’t think putting a slow washed up 40 YO on the 2nd line is a good idea.

LMAO, you are basing your analysis off of what 54 games in his rookie year, used only on the 3rd pair on a team that was as a whole horrible defensively through the entire regular season!

EDIT** Guess that means Dobson is a bust as well! Rookie season = 34 GP 1 G 6A 7 P, Let's wait 3 or 4 years before we say anyone is a bust. Only those jealous of what other teams have start dumping on players after their rookie season.

Chiarot , Edmundson , Kulak, Petry, and Weber were all above average defensively. MTL fans overrate the hell out of him because of his WJC performance, but he's not even a lock to be an NHLer. Top down hockey's model currently gives him a 10.61% chance of playing 200 games. Byron Bader's model has him at under 50% odds as well .

Dobson's play driving was much better and it actually matters what you do before you get in the NHL. Also Dobson was averaging 13 minutes per game as a 19 YO and he still had 1 more point than Romanov in his age 21 season (averaging 17 min a night playing in 54 games as opposed to Dobson who only played 34)

You didn't watch many Habs games this year did you? Chiarot, Weber, Edmonsdon (on occasion) and Kulak were all tire fires in the regular season! Weber and Chiarot's play picked up in the playoffs but so did everyone else's. Edmundson was awful to start the season and turned it around about halfway through the season. Kulak was all over the place, he would be good for a game or two then suck bad much like Mete did in the past. Romanov considering he was a rookie used solely on the 3rd pair had an up an down year as well but the transition from KHL to NHL is not easy especially for a 20 y.o. But you do you and continue to dump on a 20 year old kid cause you have nothing better to do with your time.

In the playoffs Montreal was outshot 42-31 and outscored 3-1 with Romanov on the ice. He also had a 32% expected goals %, worst among Montreal D. "Looked pretty good" I guess you're referring to his 1 goall lol - 2 min later he made a terrible defensive play which cost MTL.

I have no idea what that link is.

The numbers don't lie - you clearly don't know what you're talking about. All of those players were above average in most defensive metrics. I'm dumping on the 21* year old because I'm arguing why this is a terrible trade for the islanders. I personally don't give a sh*t about his transition from the KHL, there are plenty of players who come over and succeed.

Beauvillier-Nelson-Bailey = 73% goals for percentage

Beauvillier without Nelson/Bailey = 62.50% goals for percentage

Nelson+Bailey without Beauvillier = 27% goals for percentage

And you want to trade beauvillier for scraps?

So how many Montreal Canadiens regular season games did you watch? 0?! Yeah you don't have to use stats or advanced stats to know that during the regular season Chiarot, Weber and to a lesser degree Kulak and Edmundson sucked. Just look at some of the teams interviews from down the stretch, EVERY one of them Petry included kept saying how much better they had to play game after game after game. There was a reason that Montreal was 18th overall in the league headed into the playoffs, their D sucked in the regular season. Go ahead and blame the kid if you want but every Habs fan will tell you the same thing, OUR D in the regular season was one of the worst in the entire league with Weber and Chiarot leading the way as the worst 2 regulars. once Merrill and Gustafsson came to town they were the only D worse than Weber and Chiarot.

I probably watched like 10 Montreal games this season and the great thing about analytics is it removes bias. Sorry man I don't trust your eye test. Kulak was great

I don't think either team makes this trade but Romanov is already a solid player and his stock is high. Regardless of what you perceive him to be, GMs will always try and "beef up the back end". Any GM would jump on a smooth-skating D who led all rookies in hits. I think Beauvillier is worth more than Romanov but I also think GMs would like to have Romanov on their team.

I'm not sure why you think Romanov's stock is high, he didn't have a good season and he was a healthy scratch for most of the playoffs.

I was not trying to say that Romanov was better than Beauvillier. I was only arguing that he wasn't CRAP like Isles777 was trying to make him out to be.

Yeah no for sure, I don't know what he's on but Romanov is already solid and is still super young. Plus, he apparently has an incredible work ethic.

He was a healthy scratch cause the coaches didn't want to throw him to the wolves in his rookie season. Do you not know anything about sheltering a prospect? Seems like you have absolutely now concept of what it takes for an international prospect to make the jump to the North American game. Hundreds of International prospects go from their respective leagues straight to the AHL as they need to acclimate their game to the NA style. You are right though you know more than any NHL GM or pro scout around the world!
