He was a healthy scratch cause the coaches didn't want to throw him to the wolves in his rookie season. Do you not know anything about sheltering a prospect? Seems like you have absolutely now concept of what it takes for an international prospect to make the jump to the North American game. Hundreds of International prospects go from their respective leagues straight to the AHL as they need to acclimate their game to the NA style. You are right though you know more than any NHL GM or pro scout around the world!

Romanov has not done anything in the last 3 years that would lead anyone to believe he is going to be a top 4 defenseman. Can he turn into one? Sure, but it’s highly unlikely. This is different than say, kotkaniemi who has struggled the past two years but he’s done enough from his age 17-19 seasons to argue that he’ll be at least a 2C in the future

I'm not sure why you think Romanov's stock is high, he didn't have a good season and he was a healthy scratch for most of the playoffs.

He was a healthy scratch because we had like 3 Ds that had more "experience" and Ducharme wanted there to be more experienced dmen in the lineup. Not his fault too much, he played like 95% of the season right out of camp and performed well.

I'm a Patreon to JFresh, it's his most recent update. This is Romanov's card for the 2020-2021 season.

WOW, Romanov wasn't even in the NHL for the last 3 seasons and played 3rd pairing in the KHL as an 18 y.o. Then came to Canada as a 19 y.o. and while he did not get to participate in the bubble showed he belonged in Montreal through the next training camp and regular season.

Now it all makes sense! He is not even using updated stats, just knitpicking crap to try to back up his narrative.

then he must have changed his model. The one Jfresh posted on April 22, Romanov only played 4 games after he posted it. Going from a 39% WAR% to 66% makes no sense.

Ok that means nothing lol - the odds are still against him to become a top 4 D. You can believe what you want.

Now it is JFresh's fault you are knitpicking reports and not using current data, gotcha! Try trolling somewhere else, you ave been proven wrong yet again!

If I were the Sabres GM and Lamoriello made that offer to me, I would take it.
Buffalo should have been trading cap space for picks years ago instead of signing Moulson, Gionta, Meszaros etc.
I only with KA had made the Ladd trade as well.
But I do not think he is smart enough, or has the vision needed to be a successful NHL GM.

EDIT, IMO a decent first try.
