incorrect this past year kakko excelled defensively while thomas was about average. Im pretty optimistic thinking that with gallant actually playing him in the top 6 the offense will come. Thomas is also 2 years older than him so rangers pass

Thomas has higher upside especially with How Kakko performed. Thomas won a cup at 19 and was performing really high. I don't think Kakko is worth Thomas.

Kakko is already an elite defensive presence and has the skill set to increase his offensive production

I'm hard-wired to like Thomas, but even if you like Kakko more, center > winger all day. Top six centers are hard to find, wingers can be slotted in and out.

Sidenote a lot of fans are really depressing values on Blues players after what I'd call a pretty brutal season. 3 guys played well, that's it. Other than ROR, Kyrou, and Faulk, every other player was a disappointment vs expectations IMO. I'm expecting guys like Thomas, Dunn, Schwartz, Schenn, Parayko to bounce back to being reliable impact players. Something about last season just stunk around here and I wouldn't read too far into the numbers.

I like Thomas a lot, he's a really solid player and has tons of upside, but there is no way I'm trading kakko for him 1 for 1. I'd take kakko any day, he's 2 years younger and as others have stated he already has a legit defensive game, I'd wager in 2 years he is well on his way being a selke candidate and a 50 point + scorer. No way I'm doing that if I'm the rangers
