I agree the Nedeljkovic trade sucks for the Canes. I still don't understand why the GM didn't want to give 3M per year if that's what Ned was asking.

It's a deal that walks him to unrestricted free agency for one.

They're also gambling on Nedeljkovic only being hot last year. They're backing him to be the .890 goaltender he was when the D core was mediocre and the Canes weren't playing so many bottomfeeders.

I'm just gonna throw this at you... Geekie was a 3rd rounder, Pesce was a 3rd rounder, Slavin was a 4th rounder, Aho was a 2nd rounder... Carolina know how to draft, it's one thing they do very well. The pick might be the only silver lining in this trade

The canes have 3 UFA veterans and a lot of so-so prospects that aren’t helping for at least 2 years.

To me, the saddest thing is the Canes ARE going to spend money at Goalie. They will at least over spend for one as a UFA (re-signing one of ours, or one on the open market), and a backup. They are going to spend 5-6M on goalies without a doubt…they just didn’t want Ned.

Welp, guess we will try to win a cup with Freddie Andersen.

Makiniemi is also pretty good. They have a few in the pipeline. They still hold the rights to Jack Lafontaine who was a monster in the NCAA this year.
