Rather have Zacha over Meier

Zacha outperformed Meier last year and is cost controlled

Meier and Hischier have that Swiss connection. The Devils can afford to even have him long term imo. Recency bias shouldn't play into acquiring a top line winger.

Zacha-Hischier-Bratt have better chemistry. When they played together this year, Zacha was over a point per game
Zacha also has been trending up every year while Meier has regressed every year

Adding Mukamudullin on top of it makes the trade even worse

Zacha = Meier
Mukhamadullin + salary difference = 7th overall

The key point here is Meier has a $10m QO in two years...which you either pay him $10m or he's essentially getting paid at a UFA rate. If the Devils aren't legit, he could avoid a long term deal and you are paying him $10m hoping to trade him off for what would be pennies on the dollar likely.

Sharks aren't doing that and Devils don't either.
