Plzzz no Wallstedt

Created by: csick
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2021
Published: Jul. 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I wouldn’t be as pissed if he took Wallstedt as I would’ve been had he taken Askarov at 5 last year, but I’d rather try to move up 1-2 spots and guarantee one of Kent Johnson or McTavish or at worst , stand Pat and take Lucius or Coronato

I don't necessarily think a goalie is the right play given the depth they already have, but I'm at a point where I'm not gonna get up in a huff Regardless of who they take. Every year there's some pick I get annoyed with, and every year I end up falling in love with them. Whether it's Wellstedt to Cossa, they'll make Ottawa better in the long run.

That said, I really want a skater over a Goalie. Preferably a forward, and Ideally one of Fabian Lysell, Mason McTavish and Chaz Lucius. I think Fabian Lysell has the makings of a star, and I want nothing more than to watch him and Tim Stützle burning around on the ice.

I don't see Ottawa taking Wallstedt at 10, considering we have Murray/Gustavsson/Sogaard et al.

Chicago is much more likely to take him at 11.

Don't worry PM is going to zero in on all the draft eligible players who went through Shattuck-St Mary's

I heard that this draft is one where some guys may be taken in the 1st round and everyone is going to say “whatttt, we had him for the 4th round”.

Some analyst said the above statement
This seems like such a Dorion move 😂😂

There's a 100% chance someone is taken in the first round that no one has ever heard of and there's a 99% chance it'll be Columbus who does it

I’m very high on Gus and Sogard. You also got Merilainen and Mandolese.

Also as we saw yesterday with Ned, goalies can always be moved for cheaper than u think. Look Ben Bishop when he got traded a couple of times lol. Goalies are so unpredictable . And to take a goalie that high, you just know he’s going to command a ton of money after if he’s as good as his selection , if not then you didn’t draft as good of a goalie as you thought. I just think it’s hard to win with a 6+ mill goalie on your team. Obvs Montreal and Tampa beg to differ but Tampa was so over the cap and also had to overpay for Goodrow and Coleman at the time who were on steal of deals and also has discounts on like all their players cuz of the tax situation.

As for Montreal, their roster on paper isn’t that good and they lucked out going as far as they did.

    Looooool.
I think Columbus should do the following:
Either draft Clarke and then take someone like Pinelli with the Toronto pick or they draft Eklund and then draft Daniil Chayka. They should be looking to fill the cupboard on D and C as mcuh as possible. They’re pretty much loaded on wingers right now.

I also think Jones is for sure gone this year, Domi is gone next year and Werenski will be traded next summer.

I actually wouldn't mind Wallstedt, but I'd rather have Cossa if we're talking goalies. It can never hurt to have too many potential starting/stud goalies and being a more murky draft, it could be the time to take. One of them. I think Wallstedt is gone before the sens anyway. It seems like McTavish has moved up in the eyes of franchises but there could be a real chance Johnson is there. Having said that my list would be McTavish, Svechkov, Johnson, Cossa, Clark, Lysell.

I'm more centre hunting first and foremost. I'm doubtful McTavish, Clark or Johnson will be there but who knows. Wouldn't be shocked if there's some draft movement and really interested to see where these players end up. I have picks 5, 7, 9 in my dynasty fantasy league this year lol.

That's a very logical approach for CBJ but the problem is that I've heard of those players so it doesn't fit with the Kekalainen MO

Imagine Columbus goes off the board at 5, Ottawa would be getting a great player. I think the top 9 guys are on a different tier than the rest

They can half our 2 2nd rounders and Logan Brown to move up to 5 tho. The difference between 5 and 10 this year is certainly not JBD

    Pick # NHL Team Player
    1 Buffalo Sabres O. Power
    2 Seattle Kraken M. Beniers
3 Anaheim Ducks W. Eklund (think teams will prefer him over Guenther just my thoughts)
4 New Jersey Devils L. Hughes (no shock here)
5 Columbus Blue Jackets Mason McTavish (Shock pick but hes been climbing rankings fast and some analysts have him in their top 5)
6 Detroit Red Wings S. Edvinsson (no shock)
7 San Jose Sharks Dylan Guenther (San Jose get a steal)
8 Los Angeles Kings B. Clarke (another great player falls to a great team)
9 Vancouver Canucks Kent Johnson (hometown boy)
10 Ottawa Senators Cole Sillinger (seems like a very Sens pick)
    11. Chicago Blackhawks Jesper Wallstedt

i actually wouldnt be shocked to see a trade between Anaheim and Columbus at 3 and 5. They switch spots, Columbus get Eklund and Anaheim gets Guenther

Drafting a goalie 10th OA given the pipeline Ottawa has wouldn't be very smart. I'd rather find another top-6 or top-4, they have more trade value too.

I think Detroit is coming for Ottawa’s rebuild. They looked 2 years behind us but are creeping up fast now. Yzerman is doing an insane job

If he pans out he could be a good player. I'm just glad we didn't pick the guy Montreal did.

Loooooool. They’re still some great picks at 39 and 42 to be made. Panustov , Chibrikov, Robertsson, Raty and a few others. Hopefully Dorion takes one of them
