I doubt Buffalo would ever consider retaining $4.5M for 6 years.

No one is eating that retention for nothing.

Could argue that just clearing the 4.5 million is worth something

Given that he's still owed $52 mil, I just really, really can't see Buffalo paying half of that, and also giving more. Not saying that Skinner is even worth it at $4.5 x 6 years, just that that's an unbelievable cost to get rid of him.

Buffalo adds 4 1sts just for taking Skinner!

Edit** I was being sarcastic but they definitely need to add at least 2

LOL I know but Habs do need a LH shooting forward and Skinner when actually playing up to his ability is one of the best. HUGE RISK with it but if it worked out could be the reason we make the playoffs again

Its not 4.5, its that times the term, and no owner is paying out that cash with nothing to show for it. At that point they will just trade him.

Its why we usually see bad contracts flipped, where one team gets a guy or the other one can be LTIR to save cash.

You need a REALLY strong motivator to tell your owner you are gunna cost him 25m$ for nothing and its not like Buf is going to be any good any time soon or need that cap space

Buffalo wont pay someone 4.5 for not being on their team 5+ years. would rather keep skinner at 9 mil and see what happens
