Exited for the draft tonight

Created by: arafay
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2021
Published: Jul. 23, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Very year I have a pick of who I hope the jets take with their first. This year is corson ceulemens. Last year it was Perfetti (that was a wish really and zary/Jarvis was the more realistic pick). The year before it was Ryan Suzuki. However, heinola was clearly the better choice so I’m not that good at this. I just like to make a pick :).

Either way, let me know what you folks think!

Trades
WPG
  1. Ristolainen, Rasmus
Additional Details:
I think we can all agree that no team is going to pay the “asking price” of a 1st and a prospect for ristolainen. Now, I also think ristolainen is much better than his time in Buffalo shows he is. He could really do well next to a more veteran player like Morrissey. At the end of the day though, this move is a BIG gamble. If ristolainen is truly as bad as his time in Buffalo suggests, this move is not doing any good and a move for a guy like soucy or Manson would be needed.
BUF
  1. Harkins, Jansen
  2. Niku, Sami
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
As for the return, I did not ask for salary retention and the first becomes a 2nd from the asking price basically. Niku is a throw in for a fresh start. As for harkins, the focus was to send a forward. However, the jets don’t have many forward prospects outside of torgersson and smith. As a result, I moved a young roster player instead of the prospect so that the jets prospect pool isn’t any more decimated at forward. As a side note, forwards should be the focus this draft.

I like this. I'm starting to warm a bit more to the idea of Ristolainen.

I'd be okay with that trade but would rather give Buffalo the 2021 2nd round pick then the 2022 pick.

Also I think if they did acquire Ristolainen it'd be better to give the Sabres one of Gawanke or Kovacevic, so my Ristolainen trade would be the
2021 2nd, Gawanke/Kovacevic, Niku.
I think that's a pretty fair offer and some decent assets for the Sabres.

Risto passes the eye test and i think he would thrive in a heavy west team. Most fans who dont like him are analytic crazies who dont even watch him. He brings an element that teams desire and that the sabres will miss.

Here's hoping that Chevy will acquire Risto. Then hoping Risto thrives in a winning atmosphere.

I agree with everything you said. I didn’t know they changed the 2021 picks to 2022 already. It was supposed to be a 2021 2nd. My bad.

I’ve always liked the idea, but not for a 1st. If it starts with a 2nd, I’m in.

Yup. No kidding. Way too big of a risk.
