Easy decline from the Rangers. I can see Strome in this deal though.

I find Rangers fans dislike or unappreciation of Strome fascinating. Strome has been way better than chytil the last two years. I know he's played with breadman a bunch (though he was off for a while and Strome kept it up) but still.

I don't think Rangers fans dislike or unappreciation Strome (some might) but in this deal Strome is going to cost more $$$ while Chytil is cost controlled and the Rangers need flexibility with Kakko, Fox, Laffy, etc all needing deals in the next few years.

I can see the Leafs taking an interest in blackwell at under league minimum, a 3rd might be a bit much, but I could see the interest

Chytil is an RFA so not really cost controlled... But I see your point to a degree.

Being a non arbitration eligible RFA is literally the definition of cost controlled.

Cap dump for the Penguins? I would think Zucker has some value.

He can refuse to sign and go overseas, he can sign an offersheet, he can out negotiate and get an overly large contract, he can sign a one year deal, etc.

He is what he is. A RESTRICTED free agent.

Are KK and Laf cost controlled because they'll be non arbitration eligible rfas in 1 and 2 years?

Yes by definition any player under team control (RFA or under contract) is cost controlled because they aren't arbitration eligible so they will receive a qualifying offer with a set cost.

Yeah that's just not true. Look at say Marner. He was an arbitration eligible rfa....

You said it yourself..."He was an arbitration eligible rfa". We are talking about a non arbitration eligible player.

It's going to cost at the most a 2nd to dump Strålman and because of the Yandle buyout, the Panthers don't have a burning need to do that. Now, why would the Panthers give away a 20-goal scorer in Vatrano for free?

OK but still his options were limited (and you kind of answered your that in a previous post). The lack of arbitration rights really limits a players options to pretty much doing whatever the team wants him to do or just going overseas until the team would trade their rights. You have them under exclusive control for a while so you essentially eradicate all free market value he may have.

You limit options not eliminate. Hence it's not truly cost controlled until signed.

If your options are sign here for x or go play overseas for less than x, you are cost controlled. If x is $2M today, tomorrow or next month, you are cost controlled.

Is Ron Francis awake?! I think he got lost somewhere in Seattle's Skid Row. Those feces spots and random needles are tough to avoid at first
