The first non lopsided deal of the day.

I don't get the Benning hate tonight. All the dumps are worth the first I'd say, then you've paid a 2nd, 7th and a bad OEL deal (But still a better defender than pretty much anyone else on their roster) to get Garland! I'm actually surprised that all three guys didn't have Arizona in their NTC.

For those who say Van won here is a good piece of info for you

The 12 millions they dumped flew over your head obviously

Huge W for VAN! O.E.L. is extremely reliable. He's rarely injured. He's gonna be playing with much more offensive firepower. The term is absolutely brutal, but I love the move anyway. Benning finally got rid of the overpaid 4th line contracts, too. Or, in Eriksson's case, healthy scratch contract.

Also a good deal for the Yotes. They've been treading water for the last couple seasons and it appears they've realized that they need to re-think this roster.

12 million out - 7.3 million in = 4.7 million in space.

But Petterson and Hughes need to be signed this year.

What's your plan? Tell them to come back next year? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still does not matter

All their future contracts are gonna make all that space go bye bye quickly

Vancouver has 1 year to show us what they got

Petterson, Hughes, Horvat, Boeser, Garland, Hoglander among others wont come cheap. That 18mill in cap space will be gone before we know it. Especially when we consider Benning as the gm.

After a long reflection Arizona win, Garland and OEL are good but 9 OA and a 2nd is better

You have to look at the other guy that they received. Garland's a really good player.

Ok.

Let’s break it down

$6Mx1+$3Mx1+$3Mx1+$1Mx6 = $7.25Mx6
$18M for $43.5M
Arizona wins the waste of skin swaps

Rest of the trade is
9OA + 2nd. The 2nd is Vancouver’s in one of the best drafts, ever. Might as well be 18OA this year

9th OA + 1st for Garland
Garland isn’t worth that
Serviceable defensively, good but not elite offensively
Arizona landslide W in both facets of the trade

They literally can do that yes.

Both sign $5Mx1 and come back next year if that’s what you want. Both would jump at it after god awful years

Vancouver paid the same price to dump 12M than TOR paid to dump 6M (Marleau), AND got a retained OEL.

This is the trade of the year. People complaining are in the advanced stats cult.

Yeah, no. They wouldn’t take it.

Also, Vancouver didn't have 10M of capspace. 💸

OEL is **** lul. Basically an overpaid Dman making way to much and a worse version of Myers. Arizona wins for the fact they got Benning to take on that ****ty contract lul and got the 9th OA pick for him

I disagree. Offensive defensemen on bad teams cant look good. Like Ristolainen in Buffalo.

Assuming Hughes signs for 6M AAV on a bridge deal, VAN will be paying Tyler Myers, Quinn Hughes, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Nate Schmidt a total of over 25M against the cap. That does not look like a sound defensive core

Honestly…. It’s not bad, I think Vancouver took a small L here, but like I don’t know what to say about it.

Take away the extra 2nd round pick and cut off another million from Larssons deal and I might vote for Vancouver, but all those deals had 1 year left, and Eriksson was only owed $1mil in actual cash. Roussel is still a decent 4th liner- just paid twice what hes worth. While the deal is close to fair now, it swings to Arizona big time in the long run.

Benning still has to sign: Pettersson, Hughes, Garland, Dickinson, and Juolevi. They had also expressed interest in bringing back Edler, Hamonic and Sutter- but none would be overly pricey. Unless Larsson plays the rightside (dont think hes done it before), then you have Hughes, Larsson and either Juolevi or Rathbone on the left- leaving no reason to bring back Edler.
Larsson may be a good talent in need of a change...but he doesnt address what the Canucks truly needed. Garland helps, but some more size on the wing wouldve been nice, especially when you lose Roussel and likely Virtanen- 2 players who could hit and forecheck.
And they still have to figure out what theyre doing with Schmidt and Holtby.

They dumped 12 Million for next year and gained 7 Million for 5 years after that, not that great of a trade off.

I'm do done with that twitter account🙄

Could you please stop the reposting and form an opinion of your own, cause not everybody think that JFresh dude know something about hockey because he uses colorfull numbers.

I will reformulate. " Offensive defensemen on bad offensive teams cant look good. Like Ristolainen in Buffalo".

Once OEL hits 50 pts, all stats people will get a thingly feeling.

They also gave Quinn Hughes a very high internal comparison. If I'm negotiating for Hughes I'm not settling for less than 7 million.

I would've paid that price or more for Garland as a Canes fan. I had him as potentially getting Seth Jarvis in a package.
