Bergeron + Marchand are both like 35 son.

Leafs locked in Spezza for a clean 750K.

Apples to apples.

Son, lol.... check the birth years when the players signed their UFA deal.

All player example signed their deal as 29 yr olds.

Bergeron...10.5 % cap worth.
Marchand....8.5 % cap worth.
Hall....7.5 % cap worth.

Now Dubas signs J.T.....14 % cap worth.

doh!!!

Just imagine a 35 year old J.T. eating up 14 % of your cap space... I smell a buy out in the future.

It was a joke son .... with a bit of truth to it.

BTW Tavares expires when he's like 33.

Pasta, Bergeron, Marchand, Hall = 25M

Matthews, Marner = 23M

When will people understand that the taxes in Canada and the cost of living in Toronto are a hell of a lot more than in the United States

I don't understand how this is such a great contract for BOS. Hall did nothing in the playoffs when they needed him. He's much slower than he used to be and his shot was always weak to begin with. Were there really other teams willing to pay him like this after last season? Why not $4M AAV? Hall's ceiling is certainly not higher than Toffoli before last season.

Biggest winner: Gabe Landeskog. If Hall is worth $6M, he's worth at least $7.5M+.

At that price, they'd be crazy to want him.

Not that much more, lol. Maybe compared to FL or TX, but not Massachusetts.

After watching Hall slowly decline over the last 5 seasons, I am extremely confident that this was a bad signing.

Maybe, I'd probably say somewhere like 12th or so. Slightly above average.

The cost of living in Toronto is among the highest in North America, also the bruins were lucky enough to lock up Marchand and pasta, before the Draisaitl and McDavid contracts reset the market, damn Chiarelli

There's a direct correlation, at least in American cities and states, between high cost of living and mismanaged budgets. Teams in Florida and Texas, among other places, have a significant advantage in recruiting and retaining top end talent because of taxes and cost of living expenses. Case and point: Tampa's roster.

AAV is great. Term is short. Can't believe he agreed to only 4 years. Very good contract for the Bruins.

This is gonna end up being such an underpayment lmao, can't believe he had to settle for that, I don't think someone with his contract history would take a 2m+ paycut. For reference, that 8M range is what I expected him to land at.

Gotta say we would've had to have been some negotiator after the past two terrible years for him to get 8mill besides a short stint in Boston, good contract overall.

Actually, he played at a 57 point pace when you include the playoffs. 5 of the 16 regular season games were played against BUF, while they were in full tank mode. Hall was invisible against the Isles.

Nah, this just means that Boston has to eat 50% of his contract for Hall to join Crosby and Ovie in Toronto...the only city that matters (to eastern canadians).
