That D core has taken a MAJOR step backwards this year, and possibly for a while if Bean continues like he was.

Uhhh, what? The Bean trade was actually somewhat impressive, considering a year ago, he was being turned down by GMs saying he didn't have an NHL future

His potential isn't what it was. His defensive game hasn't matured since he was a Calgary Hitman, his offensive game is mediocre, sure... but the rest of his game is just bad. He's a liability, and Carolina got a 2nd rounder for that? That's a bad trade from Jarmo... not Don

In Carolina, he spent a lot of time with Jani Hakanpaa, who was very good, He also spent a lot of time with Haydn Fleury who wasn't. Good teammates do not make Bean good. At 23, he's not got the same time to progress as he did when he was a 13th overall pick in 2016. He's STILL a liability, and he has been defensively his entire youth career. It's always been the knock on him. Playing with pylons beside him in Columbus (for now, Boqvist isn't NEARLY the finished article yet) he's not gonna get better like that.

1) RAPM isn't the best way to examine players. It's a glorified plus-minus that you bring up to make fun of Drew Doughty.
2) That's not a terrible RAPM.

2) If you don't like RAPM, his xWAR is just as bad (Jfresh on twitter) Bean is just not good....
