Finishing the Draft

Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 24, 2021
Published: Jul. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My Opinion on the selection of Logan Mailloux: I think that the Canadiens made this move to prove to the league and their fans that they believe in second chances. I think Mailloux's offense was completely inappropriate and I do not support it whatsoever, however the Canadiens claim he has since apologized through text, and then later in person with the victim and her family. He plans to prove himself as a different, mature person than what that offense displayed him as. I think he's a great pick at 30 skill-wise, and I think if any team were to draft him to make a statement I would expect it to be in his skill range, if that makes sense. No team would draft him anyways if he's still available in the 7th round to prove they believe in second chances, it was this pick or no pick for Montreal, and I think he was the best player on their board.

Bergevin is a great GM and I’d trust his decision making skills over most of these talking heads who have to go on air and be outraged over the threat of being cancelled by the woke brigades. I certainly trust him over kids posting on capfriendly comment sections.

Here’s my biggest thought on this. WE NEED TO STOP TREATING THESE KIDS LIKE THEIR SUPERHUMAN!
The kid made a douchebag move, which thousands of people do(not making it okay though)

If he was a “normal” 18 years old he pays a fine and maybe some community service. But since he has a name and a potential chance at an nhl career we must ruin his life. The only reason people know about this situation is his name

Also nhl commentators if your so upset got look at the nfl

NFL is way worse, they have domestic violence year, always some players who quit because of drugs, gang ties, nhl is a pure snowflake next to the NFL

It appears to me from my old man advantage that no one seems concerned with morality at all. If this was about morality then we would be condemning the premarital relations all together from both the young man and the young woman. Now that’s certainly not happening so it seems no one has an issue with the sexual relations between the two. My question then is this, how was this kid able to take photos of the girl while all this was going on without her knowing? Forgive an old baby boomer’s technological ignorance.

This isn't just an issue with Mailloux, it's a systematic issue with the culture of junior hockey. The media will try to make him a scapegoat, the fact is he made a stupid mistake thinking it would impress his teammates... it was wrong, he knows that, he's publicly apologized and faced the punishment from Swedish law.

You can try to demonize one person, but the fact is he is a small part of a larger issue.

Parents take the time to discuss consent, privacy, and the use of social networks with your teenagers. This isn't the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last. If he was not drafted nobody would even be talking about him, as a matter of fact this happened a while ago and it just became a story this week because of the draft...

He made a mistake as a minor, but one mistake should not define somebody, people can redeem themselves.
