probably cause another team a pick or 2 after OTT had him rated just as high

The kid was projected to be selected late in the 4th round.

Did anyone even have Zach whatshisname in the top 100? Like come on, Dorion’s usually good at this (Jarventie turned out great) but these are MASSIVE reaches. Shoulda gone safe at 10 and taken Lucius/Sillinger/Svechkov/Coronato/Wallstedt/Cossa. Probly coulda had Boucher at 38 at this point.

I know I don't doubt his drafting but nobody else had him in their top 20

lol they finally traded back when there’s so many good players still in the board (stankoven, pastujov, pinelli, raty, etc.)

just proves my point.. the only logical reason OTT didn't move back is cause they were afraid another team would scoop him up

so at least 1 other team had him just as high in their rankings

LOL. Those guys were there for their last pick too. Could have had 2 of them.

I wish we did take two of them smh. Apparently Zach is another power forward. I guess Dorion thinks everyone needs to be a 6’1” or taller power forward lol (Jarventie, Sokolov, Boucher, Ostapchuk, Tkachuk, arguably guys like Formenton and Pinto too).

I mean there is something to be said for having several power forwards who shoot zingers but like… enough’s enough.
Ostapchuk coulda been had in the 3rd, Boucher in the 2nd, shoulda taken a goalie or Lucius in round 1.

Supposedly they were under the impression if they moved back to the 15 range, they'd lose him. The Rags liked him at 16 and apparently other teams did as well.

Bob had him as a late 1st. Also I think you have to accept that the whole Knee injury + COVID probably impacted his projection. He's got a really tantalizing skillset that suits Ottawa hockey very well.

I still don't love the pick, but I get it, and am excited to see how he looks in a fully healthy, Normal season.

OTT was not obligated to draft Boucher. ****. People using "someone else might have draft him before the SJ 2nd" as a defense seem to think Ottaw HAD to draft him. No, **** it. If you dont get the guy that was a big reach, so what? You still get someone with a similarly expected value of success.

OTT is nowhere near making a cup push, we shouldnt be draft specific playstyles or needs. BPA. ****.

Yep could have traded back in the 1st round and picked up several valuable assets.

Could have traded our two 2nd rounders for a later 1st to secure Boucher. Our 2nd rounders were used on guys projected to go in the 4th and 5th round.

Lol well he’s a reach.. that’s for sure but obviously OTT had him at top 10 on their list and determined he was BPA

As for not trading down it just shows they liked him enough that they didn’t want to take the risk

If you traded 10OA for a 3rd line power forward people would call you crazy. Boucher isn't even a 3rd line power forward yet. That's just what he'll be if he's successful.

I would have drafted Wallstedt or Cossa. You can never have too much goaltending depth. Goalies are unpredictable and it is good to have more than 1 solid goalie.

U don’t know that yet.. clearly OTT thinks his ceiling is way higher then 3rd line power forward

Not comparing anything here but wonder what people thought Kucherov and Point’s ceilings were when they got drafted
