According to what Lebrun implied last night, this has become more of a deal of Schmidt just wanting to leave VAN rather than go to some specific location. With the Canucks lack of options he likely would waive for WPG who are a team on the rise anyway. In fact if he indeed waives for WPG, the deal would make a whole lot of sense especially with Demelo coming back.

You're not getting a pick back in that DeMelo deal, I'd be really happy Schmidt for DeMelo 1 for 1 tbh. Bozak is not better than Dickinson and neither likely sign for what you've guessed. Halak also gets $2m+ somewhere. I don't really want Borowiecki (purely on a hockey level - seems like he's a great dude) but I guess we'll be happy with any Holtby trade that doesn't involve cap retention. No way Leivo comes back after the way he left.

On the other side of things I think Hamonic would be lucky to get $2.5, would hope to get him back at $2. Depending on how long we go on Garland we might get him down at $4m

Bottom line: love the lineup but don't fully agree with how you got there. Might need a different back up goalie and to accept we'll likely have Boyd as the 4th line center and Dickinson will be good at 3c

Schmidt has a 10 team NTC and some teams in Canada including Winnipeg and Montreal are on his NTC list according to Lebrun.
