You’re not gonna want Sanheim-Risto after a few games

Can you explain? I get on paper why it might not work but Sanheim being notoriously soft on the puck while going to retrieve it and Risto being very physical could allow to cove up a lot of Sanheim's mistakes against the boards

If Sanheim loses the puck, Risto won’t know where to be or what to do . Just watch this:

No that's totally fair and I see how this could be a problem but a lot of the time I don't see this pair being out against the Matt Barzal type and if they are I'm sure they'll have the defensive support of Sean Couturier to help pitch in. If anything I'm more worried about in zone stuff than I am about on transition and honestly this play looks pretty similar to things we saw happen to Myers and this is a player that's "in position"

Feel bad for Sanheim a bit. His two D partners (Myers and now Risto) are so physically gifted yet they have peanut brains. Sanheim has prepared for Risto in playing with Myers.

Myers decision making was atrocious last season. That's why he was getting scratched. He's younger so maybe he can still figure it out. If not, I don't see him as anything more than fringe second pair guy.

Myers was really bad last year he has all the physical tools to be a good defender but doesn't think the game well. I still think he can become a legit top 4 dman but going into last season I was wondering if he had top pair potential
