Klefboms going on LTIR, no reason to give him up, let alone for assets

Couldn't find another player who was rotting on someone's roster for a short amount of time.. Throw in anyone really. I don't care... Team is destined for a 20 year playoff drought

Seems like you're awfully low on Dahlin and Jokiharju . . . just from an outsider's point of view.

Sabres don't do that. Another full year until NMC kicks in and they have all the leverage unlike with Reinhart (which was a disastrously bad deal - less than TDL value most likely).

Adams doesn't care.. He is getting pressure from his puppet masters the Pegula's to make a trade before the season

Ok, fair point. Gotta hope he's smarter than that. Didn't work out well for Botterill.

Gotta be honest, I dont know why everybody thought we were getting a haul for Reinhart. I was surprised when I started seeing fantastic returns- he basically had to agree to an extension for us to get max value, and I'm sure he and his agent have every intention of getting him the best contract possible in the best situation, getting buffalo a sweet return wasn't a concern. Eichel is on a different level. It's apples and oranges. I want one prime piece for eichel, I suspect the adams settles for a quantity deal- the quality of which is what he will be judged on.

Problem is the timing. Reinhart retained probably gets more than an undersized goalie prospect Florida doesn't care about and a 1st for a likely playoff team at the TDL. This isn't exactly selling high after a good year.

Sign him for 1 year for $8M and retain 50% at TDL when there is a bidding war and cost certainty. There's risk but it's less embarrassing than this deal. Just not good asset management.

I agree that- worst case, you could have gotten at least this at the deadline. We are hoping that the pick is either pushed to 23 outright, or between picks 11 and 15. Chances are, if we are dealing him at the deadline to a playoff team, its in the 20s. And Florida already hedged their bets, the only way they get screwed is if the pick gets pushed and somehow becomes the Bedard pick. I guess what I would've wanted from this was a better forward prospect too, with or without the panthers 3rd ranked goalie prospect. Trying to be objective here, we got roughly what the rags got for buchnevich (unless you really like blais), its a return on a rental.

Caps aren’t doing that. Eller has positive value. Not a cap dump. No reason to trade him either.
