two young forwards and a 2nd round pick for the 5.5 million 2nd line center where Vancouver is desperate for cap space? i don't think its as far fetched as you think considering the lack of leverage vancounver has and how badly they need to get some cap space.

Vancouver isn't trading Horvat and the cap situation isn't nearly as bad as you think it is.

No chance Vancouver trades their captain, and definitely not for that

no i think its worse than you think. Conservatively giving Hughes a bridge deal of 5 million (Using Werenski as a comp) Petterson at 6.5 million bridge and Garland 5.5 that means you have less than 2 million for a forward and 3 defensemen. and that is with out the 3 scratches on the roster. Vancouver needs to clear space one way or the other.

Horvat IS their core, they can’t compete without him.

Moving Ferland to the LTIR list frees up $3.5M. Trades or buyouts for Holtby and Virtanen add around $6M more. If Schmidt gets traded that will probably add even more cap space. Lot's of room to sign everyone we need.

No way does Vancouver trade away their captain with a very team friendly deal to save cap space. Lots of other ways to save cap space that doesn’t involve this stupid deal. We don’t need any of the pieces you gave. Give us Kent Johnson and a first and that’s the starting point but Canucks will not trade their captains

You forgot the part where Ferland is on LTIR, Virtanen will be bought out, Holtby will be moved, and Schmidt will be moved. We have plenty of options that aren’t this atrocity of a deal….
