After the 2021 Draft

Created by: Seider53
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 25, 2021
Published: Jul. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Couple of small moves to acquire roster players and get Carolina and Tampa out of a cap pinch.
Couple of UFA depth signings.

Projections for the season, team is roughly 31-41-10 for ~72 points On ice product continues to improve from last year but a tougher division means that the team is still toward the bottom of the league.
At the deadline Yzerman moves out Leddy and Ryan with retention for futures and hopefully drafts the Center to play in front of Larkin in the '22 Draft.

You can get more from both those deals.

Carolina needs to trade Foegele (he's asked for a trade) add him instead of the 2nd round pick or keep the pick and throw in Namestnikov instead of Svech.

TB have very little leverage and their 1st round pick is no better than our 2nd. They have prospects at C that we need, go after them instead (Finley, Goncalves, Ryfors).

Potentially, but cap dump trades are a race to the bottom to get rid of the contract for the lowest value. While what you're proposing would be nice im not sure if its quite realistic. Both Gardiner and Johnson would be usable players filling areas of need for the team. A pick in the late 20s and 50s is still a good get.
