Hughes can't be offersheeted. He is a 10.2(c) RFA

habs aren't very good with offersheets.

Even if that was allowed I think it's Habs who's getting screwed here long term.

Offering $11M for Hughes would be the stupidest thing you could do.

Has to be Garland $6,000,000 and Petterson $11,000,000 with the offer sheets in the $17,000,000 combined ranged. As Quinn Hughes can't be offer sheeted he hasn't played enough games yet to qualify.

I could be wrong but even if it was Petterson instead of Hughes this still wouldn't work.

Once you signed the first offer sheet you would no longer have the first round pick next year as compensation. I remember reading you need the picks in the consecutive years, can't keep offersheeting players and make teams wait till 2030 to get the first round pick

Think the rule was with that full 4 firsts offer sheet that the picks would have to be 4 in a row in 5 years time so in theory it's possible. And it worked in this example as put here.
