And I also think it’s safe to say Bowman is taking a massive risk that imo wasn’t worth taking and his hand was forced

As well as the Jets want no part in that trade just ship him anywhere else

I know the jets aren't doing that, I'm well aware. Heck, i would do Copp and a 4th for Rielly, but with the Jones trade and Rielly clearly being better than Jones, i think we could get more now, i just used the jets because they need defenseman

No ones going to pay that, or anything close to it. Rielly has turned in a couple back to back, “meh,” seasons.
Toronto would be able to get a first for him, but not much more.

That is an insane return for Rielly that no one would pay. Jones percieved value is much higher than Riellys. Hes right handed which is more of a commodity and he was willing ti sign an extension which rielly woudln't do in winnipeg.

You lost me at “rielly clearly being better than Jones”

Jones definitely is better and has more value. Jones being a RD that can play in every scenario easily has more value than rielly.

Jets say no easily. A realistic return for Rielly would be like a late 1st and a b prospect.

The fact that they didn’t trade Morgan before this draft leads me to believe they are going to resign him. I don’t agree with it but I don’t see him being moved anywhere.

Yeah I agree with the reasoning behind it and with the recent Risto/Jones trades it makes sense

But also extremely glad Chevy stayed away from both

I get the point of the post but just cause a couple GM's make very questionable trades like Fletcher and Bowman did it doesn't mean that 29 other GM's are going to do the same and overpay for your dman one year from UFA.

I'm not a fancy stat guy but isn't there analytics that say Jones is a 3rd pair dman at best?

Think that shows how silly a lot of these stats are more then anything, Jones is a legit top 4 dman without question imo.

He’s bottom 3% in the league in WAR last season lol. The stats of a fringe NHLer yet he’s clearly a top 4 dman who can play in every situation. These stats are silly sometimes. Is why you can’t purely run a team off of them. Too many intangibles.

I keep reading that the analytics say DeMelo is a top two dman and I just don't see it, think of that Tampa/Jackets playoff game that went to like 4 overtime periods and Jones played almost 60 minutes of hockey, do we really think that game goes that long if it's DeMelo there rather then Jones? Not a ****ing chance!.. Lol

Lol yeah the analytics love DeMelo haha. I’d say he’s a #5 dman on a cup winning team. The fact that Jones played over an hour in 1 game just goes to show that analytics don’t mean sh*t!
