Description
I talked about the first 4 trades in my previous post

5) & 6) this is more or less a 3way trade. Washington gets a good depth C at a great price. Dallas gets to dump a bad salary, at the cost of a 2nd, and gets a good up and coming Goalie and LD depth for a 1st and 4th. this hopefully starts the process of trying to solve their GA problem. Toronto gets some picks and a very overpaid backup goalie.

7) While Ghost is exponentially better at moving the puck and creating offence, he is not particularly good at playing defence. Carrick is better in his own end but does not have the same high ceiling as Ghost, hence the 2nd pick involved. Toronto can hopefully groom Ghost into replacing Gardiner in a couple seasons. They still have Orpik for depth and veteran leadership to guide both him and Bowey.

Leafs could get more for Bozak than that I would think.

I don't like the Ghost trade, but thats just me. Only because of his defensive disabilities, and I don't see his ceiling quite as high as everyone else thinks about him.

dallas don't trade a whack of draft picks just to rid themselves of niemi in 2017/2018.

First, the word I think you are looking for is deficiencies, not disabilities. To your point, though, the skills that Ghost possesses cannot be taught. He is extremely gifted offensively, those defensive deficiencies, however, can be taught. I use Karlsson as an exmample here; a couple seasons ago he could not play defence to save his life, but this year he seems to have bought into the coaching system that Boucher brought to the Senators. Ghost is still young enough that, if surrounded will the right staff, and group of players, he can be convinced to follow a lesser version of Karlsson's career path, instead of Shattenkirk's, who is a 4-5 defenceman who sees a lot of PP time. Which to many will seem like a great path anyways, but History will remember #1 and #2 defencemen on good teams and not the PP specialist.

And all that aside, he will become at least as good as Gardiner, in my opinion, and replace him in a couple seasons and by that time the Leafs have Nielsen and Dermott, and possibly even Desrosher to take any shut down minutes if he does not pan out.

They aren't read my description. It says the second is to move Neimi and the 1st and 4th are to acquire a Good Goalie prospect that should become a good NHL starter and a good 3rd pairing defenceman.
