I think that's an overpay for Dvorak. Yotes would be dumb to say no

I’d prefer to do a 2022 2nd not a 1st. 1st seems like too much imo.

Its meant to be an overpay. Theres a large market for him because hes cost controlled for 4 years. Were gonna have to overpay for him if were to get ourselves a legit center AND have financial stability moving forward to resign everyone.

This will be a raging debate for the next few years, Nils vs. Schneider. Im a Schneider guy. Personally I think Robertson / Schneider could potentially become one of the best D tandems in the league.

Yeah they both have crazy upside, I like Nils today, top 5 D prospect in the league right now, no question. Schneider is younger and in a year or 2 I might flip. It's a great problem to have if I'm the rangers

A really pleasant departure from the Engvall/Mikheyev - Dermott - 2023 second trades constantly promoted by a certain segment of the Toronto fanbase.

I know you like odd numbers, but $667 x 4?

I'd like to get Dvorak and think he is someone Drury should really be looking into. However, this package is one piece short of what we were rumored to be offering for Eichel in a stronger draft class. I can see Chytil, Georgiev, and 2nd or Jones as a more realistic offer. If we didn't part with out 1st rounder this year, I am not so sure we trade next year's first rounder unless it is for Eichel or in a blockbuster deal.

I think Lundkvist should make the team and agree with you, but remember Gallant has experience with Schneider which could give him an advantage. Personally I'd like to see Nils, should be a fun competition in pre-season.

Its the difference between being cap strapped when it comes to resigning LAF and Miller or not.

If they bring in Eichel, they may be able to skirt by resigning guys next year, however after that were in bad shape. If we lose Zib because of Eichel, we go back to our original problem of being weak down the middle again. So you overpay for Dvorak to make sure you have financial security.

This is pretty close to what I have been posting so obviously I love it. 😉 Didn't really think about Dvorak. I like Coleman and Goodrow together. Also like that Coleman and Kreider can play on top 2 lines if kids need a break (full nhl season). I like Soucy so you can play Nils. That's a TEAM. LGR

Nils has better numbers than Hedman did in the SHL, surpassing stats held by Karlsson and Hedman. This is not an ordinary prospect, I would be very surprised if Lundkvist doesn't make the team on our 3rd pair, as he should be able to beat out Schneider IMO unless we sign a veteran that plays the right side and opt to go with Jones on the left. This team has given Kakko, Laf, Miller and Jones a chance to play right away... I don't see that changing if he has a good camp.

Theres no way Jones and Nils are together on the third pair.

Ill favor Schneider in the long run, hes got captain potential in him.

I'd prefer we get Dvorak over Eichel, something about a neck injury, the Sabres being secretive with his medical records, the cap hit, and the cost of the deal is just too much IMO. However, we just overpaid for a bottom 6 forward with Buch, Drury has to do better and it's not like there is a bidding war for Dvorak. If he overpays in this trade, that's going to be 2 trades in a row he looks weak, plus I doubt we get full value for Strome as he should have been traded at the draft. I understand wanting your guy, but if he overpays here, other GMs are going to continue to take advantage of him going forward.

As I said Lundkvist makes the team unless we sign a vet that plays the right side. Everything we have heard is Rangers are looking for a veteran d-man that plays the left. Gio, Dunn, Soucy all names that have been floated in rumors all play the left. I expect Jones to be dealt or be the 7th man even though it's not ideal for his development. Smith should have been signed to be the 7th man at league minimum as he wanted to stay here.

Im bummed they didnt give Smith a look but it is what it is. I felt he closed out the year quite well and really lead by example for the kids.

I definitely agree, Smith would be a perfect 7th man IMO. Not sure why they want to move on, unless his contract demands were unreasonable. I do love the signing of Nemeth, big defenseman who blocks shots, kills penalties and is Swedish to help Nils adjust to North America. Great move from Drury, which is a relief considering how bad the Buch deal was.

Could have signed Buch to a 1 year deal and moved him at the deadline like Hayes. It sounds like Drury wanted Blais very badly, but trading a top 6 guy, possibly the best 2 way forward on your team last season for a bottom 6 guy and a 2nd wasn't a good enough return IMO.
