This assumes that Fleury waives his NMC for the betterment of the team, and that re-signing Sheary becomes too expensive for Pittsburgh.

You're overvaluing Duchene in a lot of trades here.

Still lower than Sakic's ridiculous asking price for him. I tried to meet halfway in the middle between what Sakic wants, and what would make sense to give up.

The Ottawa trade doesn't seem as beneficial as it could be to the Av's. I get that you are trying to take a bad contract for value, but Lazar isn't just going to find his game switching over to the worst team in the league and then Bobby Ryan doesn't seem like much of a role model for their young guys.

There are a lot of teams who a Duchene deal makes sense for and could amplify a win now type mentality, but Ottawa really doesn't seem like one of those teams.

Also, I think the Penguins would make that trade in a heartbeat. Sheary isn't going to be the Sheary of this season when he isn't on Sid's wing. His success is purely based off of chemistry with Sid and speed. Maybe he finds that success with MacKinnon, but I'm thinking he's likely a bottom 6 forward on most other teams. Getting rid of Maatta would open the Penguins up to only having to protect 3 defensemen and getting rid of Fleurys contract would free up the money needed for Duchene. I don't think NHL trades of this caliber are that easy though.
