Sign and trade, like S. Jones did. Just don't sign him for 9,5 million...
NYR
What would be the price? He probably isn't moved unless the Rags go for Eichel or he refuses to extend in NYR (unlikely). I really like his game, and I think he could be our 1C for years to come. Also, it would be awesome to see him play with Zuccarello again! Would something the equivalent of three 1st round picks do it (e.g. Boldy, 1st, Greenway)? Let me know!
If you're throwing Boldy on the table, that and a 1st would do it for me. If he's on fire towards the Trade Deadline, then yeah, maybe throw in Greenway.
But grabbing Boldy and a 1st alone (and saving Cap space from avoiding a big Zibenejad Contract) would do a lot to put Drury back in the good graces of our fan base.

So he is cheaper than I expected? Wow, we might have a trade cooking here : D
Rumor is 10M x7/8YR and we won’t be trading him after signing him. He is staying
But if they get Eichel, how do they make it work? 2 C's at 10M a year over the next 5 plus panarin at 11.6 Thats 31.6 in cap on 3 players with a norris winning defenseman on an ELC right now, I just do not see how it works cap wise to have all 4 of them on the same team.

That’s only what his camp is asking for(their starting point) he will likely get 8/8.5. We have plenty of room and bridge deals happen in NYR. This isn’t a Kaprizov situation for our guys.
How would the Wild resign him if he wants 8.5x6 years? We'll have to trade Dumba and Zuccarello.
Probably yes, but with our current centers we can't escape the first round. You have to be bold to win. Dumba and Zuccarello are easier to replace than a 1C

Yeah, I mean they are definitely in a better spot than Minnesota as it comes to the cap, etc. Probably for the best that Laf didnt blow it up this year, and allows some people on bridge deals. Definitely the brightest team in terms of high end prospects in the NHL, hopefully when the bridge deals end the cap will be rising again.

I’m pretty sure it will be. I’ve already seen a plan of 1M+ every year starting next season. But I’ve also heard rumblings that it could jump higher than that due to tv deals and such.

That would be huge for a lot of teams in the league, hopefully the first year is like a 3-4 then 1 thereafter, but obviously who knows. The interesting piece is it is the owners who are a part of that negotiation and they are the ones who end up losing money in the deal, it would be interesting if they put in some sort of soft cap for the forseeable future, if the owners are willing to pay more over the next 5 years having a luxury tax for those owners while the cap recovers

I think they should have gone luxury tax for the COVID season and till they recoup the losses. Let the ballers ball and other can reap the benefits
