Easy no by Chicago we aren’t trading a decent second liner for your AHL forwards and an above average prospect

Engvall is an NHL player that can play both C and W, Abramov is still in juniors, Liljegren is a defensemen, and don't overlook the conditional 2nd round pick, which hawks could use after that spicy meatball of a Jones trade.

Essentially, Engvall, Abramov, and a 2nd/1st = Strome and 6th; Liljegren = Nylander

He’s an AHL player on any other team and Chicago is loaded on both left wingers and centers

Looks like Toronto gets two established NHL’ers and Chicago gets a bunch of nothing. You have to give up NHL level assets to get them.

Lol, that's silly. I understand that he's capped out as a 4th liner but to say he's an AHL player on any other team seems like a senseless comment. There are many worse teams in the league than the leafs, including the CHI, who could definitely use a guy like him.

Do you value prospects and draft picks as nothing? Additionally, as mentioned above, Engvall is not a useless piece, especially on a rebuilding team like CHI. I may be off on the value of the trade but to say a package consisting of Engvall, Abramov, Liljegren, and a 2nd/1st round pick is "a bunch of nothing", seems like a bigger issue lol.

It is a bunch if nothing when you are trying to get two middle six forwards from another team. Engvall constantly goes to whoever in every ACGM post for a late round pick, and you aren't giving up anything of value in the trade.

If the hawks are giving up strome and nylander they're gonna want a solid 4-5 left defenseman in return or a top 6 right winger. Not this package of futures with very low upside and a 4th liner who wouldn't crack the hawks lineup.

apparently the hawks aern't rebuiling. And Engvall isn't good. Literally every leafs fan dumps him for like a 6th in their AGM's. Just put him on waivers and hope someone claims him if you want to dump him

Fair enough. I still think Engvall could easily crack lineup if necessary and that Abramov/Liljegren have upside, but that's just my opinion. Maybe starting with a guy like Dermott would be a better way to approach this type of trade?

Fair enough, I guess that Jones trade speeds up the process. Would subbing him for a guy like Dermott push the needle further from your perspective?

Could do nylander for dermott but you're not getting strome in that deal.

So something like Dermott, Abramov, Liljegren and a conditional 2nd for Strome and Nylander? OR do you think the org is more focused on adding roster players rather than prospects? From what it sounds like on this thread, the hawks have plenty of roster players already and don't need anymore. Just trying to gauge your fan base's perspective.

I just see Strome being overshadowed by guys like Dach, Debrincat, Suter, Kurshev, in addition to the obvious Kane and Toews

I just think the only way the hawks will trade strome and nylander is if they're part of a package for a defensive upgrade or a top 6 RW. They are loaded with good depth players. So guys like abramov and liljegren don't interest them at all. They need one more star dman to have any chance at contending. With the Seth jones trade it's pretty obvious that they think the rebuild is over and they're trying to compete now. Leafs would never do this but the hawks would want to package strome and nylander for Morgan Rielly. That's the type of move I could see bowman packaging nylander and strome for. Not for futures.

I don't think we want dermott. We already have too many 6th/7th LD's. And Strome would for sure not be in that deal. For Strome and Nylander together we eigther want like one of Amirov/Roberston/Sandin. I realize the leafs won't do that but the hawks have no reason to trade those two together unless its one of those 3 OR a 2022 1st would get it done imo. I would do Strome+Nylander for your 2022 1st. not sure how leafs fans feel about that. Has to be better to get two 23 year olds that can both help you now AND in the future vs trading the pick at the deadline for a foligno type

Having an adundance of young forwards on your team doesn't make the forwards less valuable. Like that logic makes no sense. Basically saying strome won't get a big role because the hawks already have a bunch of skilled forwards doesn't make him less valuable. It makes him expendable but we won't sell him for peanuts.
