Description
The lightest Defenseman in the Stanley Cup finals was Brett Kulak at 190 lbs. They were all 6'0" or taller. Canucks need bigger Dmen. Small Dmen may be fun to watch but they just get pounded in the playoffs.
The Canucks also need at least one more centre that can win faceoffs. Puck possession is everything. As we all know it's easier to start with the puck than it is to retrieve it.
Quinn Hughes is the Canucks best tradeable option and they should be able to get quite a return for him, especially from the Devils so....

Ok I guess Garland missed his flight to Vancouver and missed the team? All these moves are so bad…

NSH doesn't need to spend picks on depth like Highmore or MacEwen when they have enough as is -- I also have zero interest in MacEwen, he's just not very good.

As for the other trade, NSH has no room for Schmidt.

Woah now. I say instead of the 4th we send them Wagner and Moore with no retention on Holtby....then we just buyout Holtby.

21-22 buyout hit $500k
21-22 Wag/Moore hit $4.1 million
$3.6 million in cap savings

22-23 buyout hit $1.9 million
22-23 Wag/Moore hit $4.1 million
$2.2 million in cap savings
Gofnut999 liked this.

Of course they do, they get Quinn for almost nothing, No Ty Smith or Holtz or anyone else in New Jersey’s top 3 young players

Fox, Makar, Girard, Smith, Spurgeon, etc
Small d-men are the future.
Trading Quinn for his height would be bad idea, in my view.

Sharangovich is pretty darn close
Bahl and Sigenthaler are also good pieces

I think that is about fair value for a NJ trade. I think Hughes could get a better return on the open market but if VAN were to move him I could see him only being open to NJ which would lower his value a bit. I just don't know if I'd bite as the Devils. It's a fun story but besides that I'm not sure it makes sense. They have the potential of a very good D structure set for the future. Down the left Smith-L.Hughes-Siegenthaler/Bahl/Okhotyuk/FA. They are thin on the right but seems like they might make a splash for Hamilton. Hamilton-Severson-Walsh/FA. It works out pretty well where they'd have an expensive top pair, a good but less expensive middle pair and a cheap but effective bottom pair. It's hard to turn down a player of Quinn's potential but I think that left side might be too crowded to justify paying such a big price for him both in terms of the trade and his salary. Would rather stick with what we have and keep Sharangovich and McLeod as important depth pieces at forward. Maybe in a few years if/when Quinn hits FA it might make sense, but think I would sadly hold off for now.

If Quinn gets traded to New Jersey it's because New Jersey is wanting him after seeing the draft footage and wanting to sell more tickets with the 3 Hughes Brothers being faces of the franchise like the Staals

Close isn't good enough, they are all New Jersey's bottom 10 prospects

Sharangovich, Bahl, McLeod and Wedgewood are all NHL players, not prospects.
Bahl is a prospect, with a few NHL games under his belt.

A Sharangovich + Bahl offer alone would an adequate trade.
